Ok guys,this will be a bit longer to read, but I think we need to have a serious word about #Sorare27.

TL;DR: I will pull a large part of my planned investment in Sorare 27. If you’re interested why (at least @Sorare should be, as I definitely speak for a larger group of managers here), here’s my reasoning:

Why I will put significantly less money into Sorare 27 than planned:

I have been a Limited-only player for years. When Hotstreaks were introduced with the Sorare 26 update, the concept looked extremely promising. It motivated me to invest over 1,500 Euro into the game last summer — an amount I would never have considered before.

In times of strongly growing fields in PvP tournaments combined with a stagnating or declining prize pool, I never saw a realistic chance to get a reasonable part of my investment back with In-Season cards.

Hotstreaks changed that for me. It suddenly looked doable. With my math background, I knew from the start that pulling off the 1k would be tough, but I saw a fighting chance if I optimized my strategy and played my best.

When I finally hit my first Level 5 in January (despite a very bumpy learning curve and countless mistakes), the plan to go big on Hotstreaks for Sorare 27 was set.

I exchanged ideas and concepts with highly engaged, smart players who were already deeper into it, gathered their learnings and figured out ways to make the system profitable.

When Sorare 27 was announced, unfortunately many of these plans became obsolete again (something I’m very familiar with after 5 years on the platform).There was a lot of talk about “the biggest prize pools ever bla bla bla” — that’s just marketing gibberish many companies use to create fake hype. I don’t want to add too much to that criticism.I’m not a very uptight person. We hopefully have only grown-ups on this platform, so I don’t even criticize that much that Sorare is turning its core game into a weird form of online casino that speaks to the same human urges as a slot machine.

The fact that it’s profitable to exploit laziness, the urge for serotonin hits and the ultra-low attention span of generations raised on social media feeds is a learned business concept. If this money puts the platform on financially sound feet, that’s entirely okay with me.What I do criticize — and what I think is a huge mistake by Sorare (which could also affect card prices) — is that they have redistributed prize money from the lower steps to the higher steps, making the latter even harder to achieve than they already were in Sorare 26.

At first glance this might sound logical: one degenerate player wins the 10k Super Jackpot, Sorare can market it via influencers and social media, and they save money on the regular leaderboards and lower steps.But what completely goes out the window is any form of outcome predictability for the investor.

They nerfed the lower steps, raised the thresholds for the higher steps and massively increased the variance.

From an average expected value perspective, it was already possible in Sorare 26 to play Step 5 five times and win zero times (depending on your squad quality and bonus structure, you had roughly 35 % chance to go over 460 points in the absolute optimal scenario — often you landed much lower).

These numbers have now gotten even worse. On top of that, the gameplay now actively urges you to play suboptimal lineups.I can understand that Sorare wanted to correct the imbalances from last year and raised the thresholds for La Liga and Bundesliga (which were probably the easiest leagues to hotstreak last season).
But for me as a player, this has nerfed a very good spot to put money into.

Players should always remember to stay critical when playing against someone who a) can define the rules of the game and b) has built a business model on offering that game. You have to look for soft spots as a player to have a chance. Bundesliga and La Liga were such soft spots. Now that this window has closed, my strategy has taken a severe hit.

So no more hotstreaking.

What am I complaining about? There are still Leaderboard competitions, right? Yes — Leaderboard competitions whose total prize pool has been nerfed by about 50 %.You now need to finish Top 3 at least twice if you want to come out in the green. That drives the variance even further beyond the already extreme levels of Hotstreaks (and this assumes you do everything 100 % right). Not to mention that you need an army (50+ LineUps per gameweek) of Arena lineups just to support your XP structure and stay competitive.

That’s pretty much the situation of 24/25 for me — no thanks.

Rare looked a bit better. I seriously considered moving up and just playing Leaderboards there. But since I don’t have more than 10 Rare cards, I would need a 5k+ investment to be competitive in something like Bundesliga. I’m not feeling like putting that kind of money into the platform right now.

So what I will do instead: take the few hundred euros left on my account to trade a bit, look for new soft spots, play my Classic cards and maybe make my next move around Christmas.I even thought about playing the remainder of MLS in the old system (it runs until October/November and given the league structure, Hotstreaks might still be quite achievable right now). But I just don’t fancy the league — it doesn’t appeal to me. I’ll give it some thought over the next 1–2 weeks.

No caigáis en la trampa de invertir por encima de vuestras posibilidades y no penséis que sin comprar todas las cartas disponibles no se puede competir.

El usuario perfecto para Sorare es aquel que haga precisamente eso… apalancarse comprando todas las cartas, teniendo la falsa esperanza de ganar mucho más fácil.

Los hot streaks no son fáciles de alcanzar pero es un modo de juego muy divertido y que seguro se disfruta mucho.. pero con cabeza por favor… que ya he visto muchos mensajes de usuarios (públicos y privados) hablando de adicción y ludopatía.

@saikhan_ @Bossfella @Sorare And no, you cant just do things like in Sorare 26, because you have 2 additional ladder steps to climb, which is actually a huge drawback if you dont have a diversified collection.
Keep in mind, for 99% of the players, ressources are limited, not everyone has access to every card

@saikhan_ @Bossfella @Sorare Yes, you can keep your FC Augsburg stack and play it in hotstreaks, or you can wait until they have their next potential usecase, but in the end, you will need more cards /trading volume to stay competitive than last year as a player.

@saikhan_ @Bossfella @Sorare That also said, footy has brutal variance, so when we move away from top level football and to act like your Augsburg stack investment would guarantee you to finish the lower steps in first place, we are probably also wrong already.

A lot of luck will be needed there already

@saikhan_ @Bossfella @Sorare Understanding this, imo hotstreask where attractive in Sorare 26 because they were providing a steady way to gradually make back at least parts of your investment with a difficult but generally doable shot at a jackpot putting you in the green.

To me, this is somewhat gone in 27

I mean as things stand, I will try it ofc and might be corrected in the end, but to me, the bet you´re proposing to the player has just gotten either bigger and more risky or- for lower investment levels - less attractive.

All i´m saying is: The new system pushes variance a bit to much in order to be truly excited about.

The value proposition of Hotstreaks in Sorare 26 was that it looked reasonable to regularly cash in and don´t have hit a jackpot in order to halfway justify your investment.

@SorareAssist I still have a few bucks on the side for Sorare27 but right now, I feel more comfortable to hold back and look forward to have a bit of fun with my Classic cards :)

It's probably nothing in it you've never read before somewhere already but in these days with a lot negative sentiment about Sorare27 around it's a good read to focus on what's fun about Sorare and how to structure yourself for success, all structured in one source.

Just remember: If you don't feel comfortable with what's offered to you in Sorare27, a bit of Classic until you've made up your mind is a legitimate option.
