Wow!
Mark Carney gets very testy when asked about his assets by the Globe’s Stephanie Levitz and then lectures CBC’s Rosemary Barton for following up.
Something is up here.
And really?
Lecturing two journalists about their questions?
CBC’s Rosemary Barton exemplifies exactly why intelligent, accomplished people hesitate to run for office: even when they follow the rules—something Mark Carney has been clear about from day one—they are subjected to relentless badgering.
If Canada wants strong political leadership, we need to move past this tall poppy syndrome. We should be encouraging, not discouraging, successful private-sector leaders from stepping up to serve their country—especially in times of crisis.
For over a decade, Canada has struggled to find competent political leadership across the spectrum. Now more than ever, we need bold, unconventional leaders willing to take on the responsibility of guiding the country through these unprecedented challenges. It is hard work and it is a sacrifice. Show some respect.
Rosemary, enough already.
We extend heartfelt congratulations to Michael Prince @princepolity who has been appointed to the Order of Canada for his contributions to the advancement of disability rights. Michael is bold, generous, critical, and forward-thinking. Congratulations!

Public libraries are the original social medicine hubs.
They are open/part of the relief network for cooling in this heatwave — another reason we need to fund our libraries.
Effective immediately, I have resigned from Minister @KamalKheraLib Disability Advisory Group. I am deeply disappointed in what #Budget2024 provided for the Canada Disability Benefit.

Where is the advocacy here? How can this legislation still not be proclaimed? Ppl with intellectual disabilities are being paid slave wages. If we did this to any other equity seeking group there would be outrage. Shameful.
Provincial disability income support programs are well below the poverty level.

The #CDB aim is to fill in this gap, and bring #PWD at or above this line.
#DidYouKnow that people with intellectual disabilities are often not provided the support they need to understand their sentence and other legal processes they must go through?
🧵1/ Last night, Senator Mary Jane McCallum delivered a powerful speech in the Senate, advocating for thoughtful consideration of Bill C-62. As we stand on the brink of potential history today, it's crucial to reflect on her words. #BillC62#MAID
