Ottawa 🇨🇦 firefighters didn’t wait for orders. They threw their gear in a truck and drove south. Same with crews from Brampton, Vancouver, Montreal. Brothers showing up for brothers.

That’s the job.

Two weeks after the 9/11 attacks, CIA conducted Operation Jawbreaker, which had a team on the ground in Afghanistan with millions of dollars cash, an old Soviet helicopter, weapons, and U.S military air cover. They bribed the Northern Alliance rebels and tribal leaders, and took Kabul, the capital of Afghanistan with just Army Airborne and Special Forces + CIA contractors within one month.

Conversely, people forget that we took Iraq in 2003 within one month too. Captured the capital and the ruling party dissolved. We had a much larger military force in Iraq as they had a substantial military to deal with. We brought in 5 carrier battle groups and an entire Army Mechanized Division and a Marine Corps Tank Division. There was just a fatal miscalculation on the internal politics and ethnic religious Islamic tensions.

Congress should bring to the floor an Authorization of Military Force Against The Islamic Republic of Iran, the IRGC, and its allies, and back Ukraine in the war against Russia with sanctions and arms shipments. It's time for the Republican White House to start using power and rule the world. We are living in what history books with call The Crisis of the 21st Century.

On November 27, 2018 Green Beret Sgt. 1st Class Eric Emond, 39, succumbed to wounds sustained when an improvised explosive device detonated while conducting combat operations on November 27th, 2018 in Ghazni province, Afghanistan. Emond was assigned to 3rd Special Forces Group.

A soldier gave Bear Grylls his last capful of water.
The detail I cannot shake happened during Grylls’s time with 21 SAS.
His patrol was crossing a scorching desert. Their extraction point was about 20 miles away. Grylls was badly dehydrated and struggling to keep moving.
Sergeant Chris Carter stopped the patrol. Although he was thirsty too, he insisted that Grylls drink the final capful from his own bottle.
That choice floors me. Carter gave away the last of something his own body desperately needed, with no fuss and no audience.
Grylls said the kindness gave him more strength than the water itself. He went on to climb Everest, become a household name and serve as Honorary Colonel of the Army Foundation College, where young soldiers begin their Army lives.
Carter was later killed in Afghanistan. Grylls eventually told his family what their son had done in that desert.
That breaks my heart, but it also fills me with pride. His family learnt that when nobody was watching, Carter used what little he had left to keep another man going.
Armed Forces Day honours serving personnel, veterans, reservists, cadets and their families. I think this one quiet act explains why that whole community matters better than any slogan could.
The toughest man in the patrol chose kindness. Decades later, the man he helped is still telling us his name.

Army Master Sgt. Kevin N. Morehead
died September 12, 2003 serving during Operation Iraqi Freedom when his unit executed a raid on enemy forces. Morehead was a Green Berets who helped seek out terror suspects in Afghanistan after the Sept. 11th attacks. A photo on the back of the memorial program showed him shaking hands with President Bush in March 2002 at Fort Bragg, N.C.

He is remembered as a man who loved his country and family.
