@bykevinclark I read a great article at the end of the 2020 season by ESPN about Josh Allen's development into an MVP-caliber quarterback. The lengthy piece gave credit to Allen, Jordan Palmer, Brian Daboll, and Ken Dorsey. Sean McDermott's name didn't appear in it once.
@nyjetshistory I remember after the Jets started 10-1 that year, Paul Maguire, who was an NFL studio analyst for NBC at the time, predicted they wouldn't win another game the rest of the season. It seemed like an outlandish statement, but he was right!
@pfscribe I've been watching Buffalo Bills games alone by myself in my Buffalo Bills room for decades because I don't like distractions. The last place I would ever watch a Bills game -- or any sporting event, for that matter -- is at a watch party!
I just watched a great 30 for 30 documentary about the 1986 New York Mets. Several years ago I read an excellent book about that team by Jeff Pearlman. Next to the 1985 Chicago Bears, the '86 Mets might be the biggest cultural phenomenon in the history of sports.
@nypost I'll never forget Nathan Peterman's first NFL start, which was with the Buffalo Bills against the Los Angeles Chargers in 2017: 6 of 14 for 66 yards, 0 touchdowns, 5 interceptions, a quarterback rating of 17.9, and replaced by Tyrod Taylor in the second half (coach's decision).
@0detobeauty The film was written and directed by Vincent Gallo, who also stars in it. Gallo was born and raised in my hometown of Buffalo NY, and we both went to Sweet Home High School, but he graduated seven years before me in 1978 -- I wish I had met him!
@KevG163 Lawrence McCutcheon finished his career in 1981 with the Buffalo Bills, who were coached by Chuck Knox at the time. Of course, Knox was his longtime head coach with the Rams. When McCutcheon was in his prime, it always seemed like he gained at least six yards a carry!
@perzelwoman@DrewStubbmuffin I'll consider myself lucky then since it still makes me sad that a beautiful animal who did nothing wrong lost his life that day.
@CinemaTweets1@Festival_Cannes I watched "Nebraska" again recently. It's a great character- and dialogue-driven film. I wish Hollywood made more movies like this.
@MySportsUpdate@newheightshow He's right. Most Bills fans I know, including me, love it when they play at 1:00 p.m. or 4:00 p.m. on Sunday. In the 1970s and '80s, appearing on "Monday Night Football" once or twice a year was exciting, but prime-time games are so common now, they've lost their luster.
@MomAndWifeLife5 Jim Kelly played in an era of football when QBs threw the ball downfield regularly and defenses could be far more physical with receivers than they can today. I love Josh Allen as much as any Bills fan, but his stats would be similar to Kelly's if he played 35 years ago.
@DrewStubbmuffin On another note, I've been rewatching a lot of older "Datelines" on Peacock recently -- season 31 had several all-time great episodes!
@pfscribe This was the first Buffalo Bills game I ever attended. I was 11 years old. The temperature was 23 degrees, and the windchill was 10, so it was cold. The Bills were actually trailing 17-14 after three quarters, but they pulled away in the fourth to win 41-17.
@awfulannouncing Caitlin Clark made the playoffs in her first WNBA season in 2024, she missed the 2025 playoffs with an injury, and the 2026 WNBA regular season just started. I have no idea why Colin Cowherd decided to say this today.
