@Gregg_Sarra @LIBasketball23 @jared_valluzzi so just to keep this going NYS allows 14 games - can have 8 game season, 8 po teams, the LIC regional, state semi and state final. Yes, out of more teams in a few classes but its a myth that it can't be done

[CT @CT23119756]

@jared_valluzzi ...and NJ and CT kids...they have one starter from PA already

[CT @CT23119756]

@jared_valluzzi be interesting to see which LI kids attempt to jump ship to Iona Prep for '27

[CT @CT23119756]

@UDplusthree @Gregg_Sarra @Joespags12 agreed...what the parents and kids lose sight of is the goal is actually be prepared for what you do after college...chance of playing in the nfl is relatively low even if you play at Ohio State or Alabama - get a degree or learn a trade - sport is gravy

[CT @CT23119756]

@Gregg_Sarra St. Anthony's got beat up by Iona Prep today - Iona qb is from Freeport and TE is from LI not sure where - think an HT kid went too - wonder if some of the Friars will jump to Iona after the season...that SA d has been a problem so far

[CT @CT23119756]

@BrianHawkins4 @Tonyd1940 @PeteOnTheCHSFL @Gregg_Sarra and the army of coaches whose primary job is coaching high school football!

[CT @CT23119756]

@jimwright824 @Gregg_Sarra hahaha if there was we'd join...and no one would make a peep about paying for it, or travel, or schedules, or how fencing against so and so is unfair!

[CT @CT23119756]

@jared_valluzzi think oceanside wanted no part of Carey haha

[CT @CT23119756]

@UDplusthree @Gregg_Sarra @Joespags12 Hes not losing kids to Conn, NJ, Hayes like they had in the past - he's developed a program kids want to be part of (not that they were bad but not on this level). Seeing the friars lose LI kids to others is a first that I can recall - jump ship mindset

[CT @CT23119756]

@bmadd22 @Gregg_Sarra exactly - its not about money - our schools go all over the state for everything else - Flag football became a hs sport in 2023 and LI joined state tourney right away. I keep saying it -if our best don't win the LIC loses credibility

[CT @CT23119756]

@CoachBlume5 @Gregg_Sarra In AA nothing really changes from what they have now and combine B/C for other conference and then break out for playoffs

[CT @CT23119756]

@CoachBlume5 @Gregg_Sarra I don't see why it would be a 6 game schedule even with current cutoffs and Nassau actually works pretty well - two 9 team confs, 8 game schedule, top two in each conf playoff. For more playoff teams have 7 game schedule.

[CT @CT23119756]

@Gregg_Sarra they could play more in an out bracket...

[CT @CT23119756]

@PeteOnTheCHSFL @Tonyd1940 @Gregg_Sarra exactly. and if you don't want your money going to states then you should be at BOE meetings saying that about all the other sports, spelling bees, robotics, band, orchestra, chorus, science fairs, history bees, DECA, research competitions, etc.

[CT @CT23119756]

@Gregg_Sarra if they absolutely won't do it because of the logistics than play against perennial state powerhouses in crossover/non-league...we know that CAN be done logistically but they choose not to

[CT @CT23119756]

@Gregg_Sarra I don't have a problem with a game against a private school simply because they recruit as long as there is a chance the game would be competitive - Pequa - Chaminade for example might be interesting! I think the better programs would move the ball on SA's

[CT @CT23119756]

@AndyK1959 @Gregg_Sarra for lax? full scholarships almost unheard of...

[CT @CT23119756]

@Gregg_Sarra 100 percent - travel lax is even worse...I'm guessing basketball too

[CT @CT23119756]

@Gregg_Sarra as did NB - the NJ big time programs have been plucking NY kids from Orange and Rockland for decades. Then you have IMG out-recruiting all of them. Interesting times.
