One of our favorite #ArchivesSignatures is from CT's 1917 Military Manpower Census. President William H. Taft, who was teaching at Yale, signed his census form & indicated that he could ride a horse - but it was "hard on the horse"! #ArchivesHashtagParty #taft #autographs

It is a common modern belief that colonial women were deemed chattel under the law. More accurately, they were treated like children. Read about the legal status of Connecticut women here:

We're getting into the Halloween spirit here at CDNP by sharing some fun Halloween and spooky themed articles from our papers! Below is an article from the March 1, 1888 issue of Waterbury Democrat about a home in Berlin, CT that was believed to be haunted!

This is a milestone for NARA. COVID-19 is not gone, but we have learned a lot about how to operate safely.

@LibraryofCT That's me on the left. I love my job, too!

[CTState Library @LibraryofCT]

It’s Darth Archivist and his minion! #ArchivesOnTheJob gets some dirty jobs like rescuing waterlogged and moldy materials from basements and flooded buildings. Thankfully retired CT State Archivist Mark Jones loved his job! #ArchivesHashtagParty #ArchivesMonth

[Lizette Pelletier @CTArchivist]

@LibraryofCT Definitely. The stories in archival records can be so facinating you don't want to put the box away.

[CTState Library @LibraryofCT]

#ArchivesOnTheJob just won't be the same without our curator Dave Corrigan who retired yesterday after more than 35 years! Even though he is a curator, his work mirrored that of an archivist in many ways! Good luck & happy retirement Dave! #ArchivesHashtagParty #ArchivesMonth
