What if the entire #ctbb state tournament was one bracket?
11 conference tournament champions get automatic bids, the rest are at-large selections.
No divisions, just pure March Madness!
Here’s my bracket. I am sure everyone will agree 😉.
Season’s a wrap. So much fun.
Congrats to all the #ctbb champs out there.
Special shout out to West Haven and Staples. You put on a show at the highest level in one of the greatest title games ever played.
Congrats to all the athletes who created lifelong memories with their hometown friends.
Appreciate everyone who followed along.
See you again in December 2026 to argue about the state tournament divisions, Catholic schools, tiered scheduling, and everything else!
#ctbb D1 Staples vs West Haven:
Public schools stand up!
The quarterfinals on shows exactly what a D1 tournament could and should look like.
This will be a fantastic battle between two teams who deserve to be there.
As a fan of the game, and someone who lost to Catholic Schools A LOT (before we got them a couple times 😉) it was incredible to see West Haven go in and take down the big dog. A team that has beaten them three times before this season. Truly Inspiring stuff from those young men, and a game they will never forget.
Meanwhile, Staples is a team who just goes in and does their job every single night. It isn’t some special secret sauce. They just play hard and unselfish consistently. They never beat themselves.
This has all the makings of a CLASSIC title game. Two special teams. Two great programs. Only fitting this is the game that sends the 25-26 campaign into the off season.
#ctbb D2 Bunnell vs Windsor:
Public School stand up Part 2!
This is where we thought Windsor would be all year. Once they were moved down to D2, with most of their roster coming back, they were the clear favorites.
D2 was thrilling all year. The combination of teams that moved down from D1, plus all the other traditional D2 teams, made this the most competitive division. The winner will be truly deserving, and it is fitting that two programs with championship pedigree will be netting for the title.
Bunnell is playing the best basketball of the season, beating really strong opponents to get to this spot. Windsor entered the tournament 19-1 in the regular season with their lone loss to East Catholic. Then, the other East, Hartford, took them down in the CCC finals. They weee tested vs New Canaan as well. Windsor still comes in the favorite in this matchup, but they are certainly gettable.
This game will be another treat for us to watch, and there really is not an outcome that would suprise me.
Two championship level programs competing on the biggest stage. Are you not entertained!?!?

All eyes on #ctbb D1 tonight.
Public School Semi’s:
🏀 Staples vs New London – Staples has been one of the most consistent teams all year. New London’s loves to get up and down. Staples will control the pace tonight and advance to the semi’s.
🏀 West Haven vs Ridgefield – West Haven brings the physicality and explosiveness. Ridgefield has the system and patience to make things interesting. I expect a close game with West Haven pulling away late.
Catholic School Semi’s:
🏀 NWC vs ND Prep – NWC has quietly put together another strong season without the D1 talents of the past. That will be the difference tonight. I’ll take Charlot and Prep.
🏀 NDWH vs East Catholic – Probably the headliner. Two of the best programs in the state with serious firepower. East will battle for a while but ultimately the size, speed, and skill of NDWH will be too much.
Have fun out there folks!

3 great games for FCIAC teams in D2 tonight
Bunnell @ Trumbull
Maloney @ New Canaan
Ludlowe @ Windsor
Theme throughout all 3 … can the FCIAC teams get meaningful contributions outside of Wilson, Chandra, Noecker. They will all need to in order to win.

Three #ctbb games to watch tonight:
1. Woodland vs Griswold. Favorite vs Landmine. These have been two of my favorites teams all year. The two high schools have a combined enrollment of about 1200 students. Old school, small town, battle royale tonight. I’ll take the home team!
2. Trumbull vs Bunnell. This has all the makings of a classic. Trumbull is coming in off an FCIAC schedule where they were one of the last unbeaten teams in the state. Bunnell is coming in with championship pedigree. I expect this to be a BATTLE. Slight lean to Trumbull tonight, but I’m mostly just excited to watch these two teams go at it.
3. Death, taxes, and Wenzel. Very few teams in the state are as tough and gritty as Newington. I expect this game to be high octane. Both teams are at their best playing with pace and creating turnovers. Things seems to slow down a bit in the state tournament. Who can control the tempo, execute in the half court, and shell it up on defense? I’m a bit bias in this one. However, East Hartford seems like a team of destiny this season. We lean towards East Hartford at home.
