Warriors and Broncos both being 2-2 highlights how badly a big chunk of the NRL is going at the moment
Deadset been about 3 teams playing well so far this season and somehow 2 of them are the Cowboys and Sharks
Honourable mentions to when they had the doors blown off by the eventual 15th place Cowboys at Leichhardt in Tommy’s game, and the time they lost to the Titans after they went nearly 2 years without a win
Genuinely impressive that the Tigers have been through 4 different coaches and 100odd players in the last decade and they still can’t stop the embarrassment
This 0-4 start ranks somewhere up there with Gal kicking a fuck-you field goal to sink their finals chances in 2019
@mitchd_90@JasonNRL And the lone try they conceded was from him being wrong-footed and roasted with a dummy down the short-side
Maybe they gave him 2 points for being binned for something other than trying to decapitate someone
@marshall23_ Interesting to see how they respond - probably something that’s been underdiscussed coming into this season is how the Roosters have started to slide in a bunch of areas like ball-handling and perceived attitude over the past couple of years
Walking back the 6-again at the extremes has already helped make a tighter game - who knew enforcing a harsher penalty against good teams storming offside and beating the shit out of someone in their own half would lead to more competitive footy?
Glad this kind of footy is back - before the peanuts at the NRL started with all this rule change shithousery the first few rounds used to be upsets galore as the shit teams who don’t realise they’re bad yet start the season swinging with confidence
Just dropping in to say this is an excellent campaign from the NRL - always thought there was a market for the game to expand into philosophy
Expecting to see lots of poets and beret wearing theorists flocking to watch this weekend
Six again? More like 2.3 again
NRL teams are only conceding an extra 2.3 tackles per set restart, with almost two thirds of them occuring on tackles 1 or 2. Is that really a sufficient punishment for holding down in the ruck or straying offside?

Or have we just landed at a place where even in situations where the defender did everything correctly, he will still end up in the bin through circumstances outside of his control?
Once again the biggest problem with this crackdown is how often a defender displays correct tackling technique and through circumstances outside of his control ends up in the sinbin
If the point of the crackdown is to change behaviour, why is correct technique being binned?
Just to clarify, Paul Green slotted in one of the worst wing defenders, Kyle Feldt, to move Val Holmes to fullback and keep the incumbent fullback, AJ Brimson, on the bench to play back-up hooker (a position he’s never played) to replace the one and only hooker he picked
@PuntPal Want to slam my head against the wall - so Brimsons role was always going to be relief Hooker... why not pick someone who can actually play there
Paul Green masterclass well underway here; keeps his best fullback on the bench to come on to replace the only hooker he picked who hasn’t player 80 all year
