Small Copper 2024 No 7, today in the Cotswolds. By orders of magnitude the poorest year I've known for this 'common' butt. Apparently, numbers have held up much better on acidic soils, where it breeds on Sheep Sorrel - only I've stayed neutral & calcareous.

I had been concerned the really wet winters & springs had resulted in increased sward hight& habitat being less suitable.
Reduced winter grazing together with warm wet for the last 2 years where I monitor = very numbers of SsSK.
