An independent advisory group advocating for all forms of Connecticut transit, including bus, railroad commuters, and all other forms of public transportation.
Today the CT Commuter Rail Council transitions to the Connecticut Public Transportation Council and adds bus commuting to our charge.
This transition will take time. Many things to work through; new bus members, website, social media, logo, dual advocacy, etc.
We’ll get there.
Major renovations coming to the WBL. We’ve come a very long way in 10 years. Additional weekend and holiday service, passing sidings, refurbished passing sidings, 44% increase in service and now this …… soon, new coaches.

@WestchesterRai1 It’s still too early to see where this land. Those details are still being decided by. @CTDOTOfficial but the money has been legislatively earmarked for the SLE.
This session delivered major wins for public transportation, including restored and expanded funding for Shore Line East, continued growth of microtransit services, fare-free bus service for veterans and for students in grades 9–12. The CPTC was proud of our advocacy efforts.
4 million dollars allocated for the Shore Line East. We must ensure that @CTDOTOfficial and @GovNedLamont aggressively makes plans to actually use these funds and increase service as soon as possible. Thanks to @SenatorCohenCT for her strong advocacy.

Steady service builds ridership.
The Waterbury branch received a 44% increase in service and ridership responded. They are now at 144% of the pre-COVID ridership !!
It’s time to do the same for the Shore Line East.
@shorelineeast@SLERadvocacy
The Waterbury branch ended 2026 147.40% higher than their pre-COVID numbers & 33.4% higher than their ridership numbers from 2025. Both numbers exceed all other branches & lines by a wide margin.
That’s what happens when you increase service.
Steady service builds ridership.
