Connecticut residents are doing everything right and still falling behind. Electric bills are some of the highest in the country and owning a home here keeps getting harder with rising taxes and housing costs.

It doesn’t have to be this way. Senate Republicans are fighting to lower your electric bills, cut taxes and make Connecticut a place people can actually afford to live.

A statement from Senate Minority Leader Stephen Harding and House Minority Leader Vincent Candellora regarding the state’s plan to increase low-income energy assistance this winter.

⛽ Connecticut residents need relief at the pump, and they shouldn’t have to wait.

A gas tax holiday would help lower the cost of getting to work, taking children to school and keeping businesses running. For families trying to stretch every paycheck, those savings matter.

This editorial makes a clear case: Connecticut can afford to provide this relief. State leaders must act now to suspend the gas tax and put more money back in the pockets of hardworking residents.

Affordability demands action. It’s time to deliver a gas tax holiday.

⛽️ When costs keep climbing, people want to know what their state is doing about it. Suspending the gas tax is something we can do in Connecticut right now to help make life more affordable. It helps commuters, small businesses and families stretching every dollar. We’re urging Gov. Lamont to call a special session to suspend the gas tax for the next three months!

⛽️The state legislature can lower your gas prices right now! Suspending the state gas and diesel taxes through Dec. 31 would save you at least $2.75 on every fill-up. CT Republicans are calling on the Governor and Democrats to join us in suspending the gas tax now and help make life more affordable for the people of our state.

🇺🇸 Today on VFW Day, we thank the men and women of the Veterans of Foreign Wars for their service to our country and their continued dedication to fellow veterans and their families.

For 127 years, VFW members have stood together to ensure those who served are supported, honored and never forgotten. To every VFW member and local post, thank you for all you do for our communities.

💰💸 Connecticut is facing an affordability crisis. Decades of failed leadership, bad policies and one-party Democratic rule got us here. You deserve to keep more of your hard-earned money and pay lower electric rates and taxes. CT Senate Republicans will keep fighting to make Connecticut affordable for all.

[CT Senate Republicans @CTSenateGOP]

Gov. Lamont reappointed Marissa Gillett to run PURA while families paid some of the nation's highest electric rates. Her own lawyers admitted she and her staff misled a judge about deleted texts. Senate Republicans walked out on her reappointment vote and stood with ratepayers.

Another day, another CSCU resignation. CCSU Pres. Dr. Zulma Toro announced her resignation after accusations of bullying staff and allegations of employees cutting her food and watching her dog. It's the same system and the same pattern of corruption, yet no accountability.

[CT Senate Republicans @CTSenateGOP]

Former CSCU Chancellor Terrence Cheng billed taxpayers for pricey meals and chauffeured rides, then collected $442,000 for a year as a "special advisor" and turned in a report that was mostly written by AI. His replacement, John Maduko, resigned amid a sexual harassment investigation. Connecticut’s students deserve better than this.

This week we're giving you a front-row seat to the Lamont administration's culture of corruption. Bribery convictions, chancellor scandals and sky-high electric rates. Connecticut taxpayers keep picking up the tab while Gov. Lamont looks the other way.

First up, Gov. Lamont's former deputy budget director. He was convicted on 21 counts of bribery and extortion, then skipped his sentencing last week to jet off to Greece. Now he's giving TV interviews from the Mediterranean while Connecticut taxpayers are left holding the bill.

🚨🏥More than 200,000 Connecticut residents will be hit with double-digit health insurance rate increases in 2027.

People are already paying more for electricity, taxes, housing and nearly everything else. Now, hardworking people are being forced to hand over even more of their paychecks simply to maintain their health coverage.

This is not affordability. Connecticut families deserve real accountability and meaningful action to lower healthcare costs. They cannot afford more excuses or more of the same.

Today, we honor Constitution Day and the enduring promise of “We the People.”

Signed 239 years ago, the United States Constitution laid the foundation for our republic and enshrined the principles we continue to cherish: liberty, justice, individual rights and a government accountable to its people.

May we never take these freedoms for granted, and may we always remember our shared responsibility to protect and preserve them for future generations.

Happy Constitution Day! 🇺🇸
