@RobinShipston@lembitopik He’s almost certainly paid to…but won’t say who by…there’s absolutely zero chance he doesn’t stand to profit from fossil-fuel money in some way.
@theJeremyVine Incredible how folk ignore accident reduction when speed limits are lowered, but increased cycling numbers (and a smaller increase in accidents involving cyclists) and suddenly the cycle lane has to go…
@Joanna19997073@anon_opin Sorry - you did say “we”, the literal definition of the first person plural pronoun would include yourself…hence the confusion on my part.
@TrappHerbert@JohnJohnStewart There was no flow allowed the other way prior to the new cycle lane, so (legally) infinitely more is 100% correct and not hyperbole on this occasion.
@rec777777@afneil@RobertJenrick@Nanaakua1 You can’t wheel clamp a potential shoplifter ffsc but this definitely stops tax dodgers (and they’re more likely to be driving without insurance/license too)
@Trampolinecare@crispy_onions56 A rule only relevant in playgrounds and prison, where we also have to tell guys not to pull their trousers all the way down to go for a piss. Grow up lad.
@Trampolinecare@crispy_onions56 As for the lady, at face value, the tweet suggests the badge is not hers, and the owner wasn’t there. Fine to report her, walkingmarky has no authority to prosecute, but somebody else can check and do so if they find she’s fraudulently using the badge.
@Trampolinecare@crispy_onions56 Yeah, we do report people who we think are breaking the law. It’s our civic duty to do so - it’s a staple of British society to report folk who we suspect of things like this. We’ve moved on from a “tut”.
@lembitopik No, because I’ve not noticed them making such a glaring error in school age science.
Which fossil fuel do you make money from - donations or just through investments, I’m certain this post of yours isn’t just based on a “scientific opinion”.
@WATPMcc@colder_sarcasm He *is* (and was) a PEP - that just triggers extra background checks, eg checks on funding etc which would presumably raise massive red flags
@Trampolinecare@crispy_onions56 Go look at how right-wing politicians and villainising those on disability benefits as liars/cheats/layabouts.
This lady is one of those (a liar/cheat, it seems). badge fraud makes lives harder for many. It’s not the same as murder, no, but it’s easily caught and reported
@Trampolinecare@crispy_onions56 What is this, the playground, prison, or modern society where the impact of law breaking (like this lady appears to be) has an impact on others who do have the right to the blue badge’s privileges?
Deliveroo/UberEats could easily track their riders and know who’s using an illegally converted bike (anyone who consistently hits 30mph up and downhill whilst delivering and hasn’t proven they’ve moped insurance etc).
They should be held legally responsible as a business.
@dahontr3@JohnJohnStewart This.
Changes in small numbers are not statistically sound reported in this way.
Another elephant is rising cycling numbers over covid probably brought many new / inexperienced cyclists out - anything that increases their numbers will increase accidents involving cyclists.
