A Michigan Freshman just threw a 125 pitch complete game shutout vs our arch rival in the big ten tournament. Doesn’t get any better than that.
Shoutout Shane Brinham ladies and gentlemen.
Michigan captured a national championship with their best player injured, against a UConn program with two recent titles.
68 teams thought they could win the tournament, but Michigan knew back in the summer this was a championship group. Monday, they finished the task.
Not saying that Michigan isn’t loaded, and not saying they didn’t spend a fortune on their roster, but it’s amazing that they are THIS dominant with
• A transfer from UAB
• A transfer who UNC fans DID NOT want back who “couldn’t shoot”
• A Non Starter at UCLA
• A Non Starter at Illinois
• 2 Players that played on Michigan’s 8-24 Team
• A guard who shot sub 30% from 3 the last two seasons in the Big 10
• A Freshman
This has been a masterful job by Dusty May and company putting this group together bringing it to life
John Beilein walked so Dusty May could run.
9 years before Beilein: UofM was 145-135 with 0 tourney appearances
Then came Beilein in 2007:
• 278-150 (most wins at MI)
• 9 NCAA app
• 5 Sweet 16
• 2 Final Fours
• 4 B1G titles
Tonight isn’t possible without John Beilein.
Michigan finishes their 37-3 season with a 39.70 Kenpom ranking, putting them at #2 ALL-TIME.
They played their D game, with half of a Yaxel Lendeborg and won the National Championship.
This team was special and 100% deserved to be the last team standing.
World was on notice after Vegas.
Michigan is the first D1 school ever to win multiple National Championships in Football (1948, 1997, 2023), Baseball (1953, 1962), and Men’s Basketball (1989, 2026).
Michigan has to be considered the best college program in all of sports right now. Winning a championship in football and basketball within 26 months is absolutely WILD!!!
