@interfreya You haven't done one of the "normal" raids yet probably, since the first major one is after heavensward so you probably will soon, but typically the "savage" variants of raids are harder than the "extreme" variants of trial bosses.

@interfreya This gets easier with newer expacs they put the quest givers in major cities after you complete the base expansion with a blue mark so its hard to miss, HSW and stormblood are older so they were kinda weird about hiding them back then dunno why lol

@interfreya Oh sweet yea so you know, those type of raids are pretty simple and yea each expac has 3 of those so you'll unlock 3 again at the end of heavensward if you want, the other alliance raids are not msq mandatory though so you can choose to skip, but they're fun stories and content.

@interfreya Yea there's a third type of raid "alliance raid" which is 24 man content, you might have done crystal tower already (or will have to eventually since it's story mandatory) these are not the same as normal 8 man raids and are typically VERY easy to complete. Each expac has 3 of em

@interfreya For a bit more context if no ones told you yet, trial bosses aka story bosses like shiva etc have an "extreme" version of them thats harder that requires strategy and group coordination. Then there is "savage" which are harder versions of the normal raids

@interfreya I wont say they aren't challenging, they are! But it's not like some herculean feat. What i would recommend when you eventually hit endgame is try an on content extreme fight to dip your toes into the "endgame" experience and see how you enjoy the process of progging fights.

@interfreya CAR was an experimental raid type they did in this expansion, usually savage raids are 8 player experiences, but for this one they did an alliance raid size and it's a 24 man raid. Which is mainly why the "filling a group" part is the hard part lol. Its just nicher content is all

@interfreya These people are acting like Chaotic is like this evil super boss lol. For context, it's roughly as hard as a floor 1 savage boss, sometimes an extreme boss. The major difficulty is just getting a group but there are two discords that run this content frequently CODCAT and RADAR

@cinnie_kinnie @hadalogic I tweeted this earlier but AS a chronic ffxiv player i agree lol. Other than being MMO's with raids/community and gear score. One is a first person shooter the other is a hotkey mmo they are like worlds apart in game design it's so silly

The "shooter" part in FPS is doin a LOT of heavy lifting, like no, our hotkey mmo would probably not satisfy the needs of someone who likes doing 360 no scopes to raid bosses lmao.

I am grateful every day that XIV is popular enough to sustain itself. I get to continue playing this game and keep my community, the first game me and my partner bonded over, after years of always playing something different from each other. I mourn ppl's loss for their 3rd space

MMO's are the most parasocial genre of gaming in existence, of COURSE ppl are gonna be sad that their forever home is getting destroyed. Like can you imagine dudes who've been playing wow for it's 22 years of existence suddenly being told "hey funs over good luck out there"

People LIVE in these games, it's their social life, their friends, their partners, it's literally everything to certain people. My entire friend group, several of whom have traveled COUNTRIES to hang out all came from XIV. These games are MUCH more than just couch games.
