@ggreenwald@janecoaston@zackbeauchamp Glenn, do you have any comment on Tucker calling Iraqis "primitive monkeys"? Is it "woke" to think that was racist and dehumanizing, and that such dehumanizing racism should disqualify one from being a TV host?
@ggreenwald@Hey_DonnieJT@richimedhurst Have you ever pushed back on any FOX host (including the Guantanamo Bay Platoon leader) once in any of these 2021 interviews? If not it would seem that you're not reaching out to their audience with your message; you're telling them what they want to here with a "leftist" gloss.
@ggreenwald@Hey_DonnieJT@richimedhurst Glenn, do you have any comment on Tucker calling Iraqis "primitive monkeys"? Is it "woke" to think that was racist and dehumanizing, and that such dehumanizing racism should disqualify one from being a TV host?
@ggreenwald@zackbeauchamp@janecoaston Glenn, is the support for the "working class" professed by the MAGA/populist right substantive politics (rooted in policy), or is it as superficial as "woke" is?
@janecoaston@ggreenwald Jane you are exactly right. And this doesn't just apply to superficially "Left" entities like Silicon Valley, but also people like Glenn who use the problem of "woke corporations" to deflect from the fact that Trump/GOP are still far worse on working class/corporate issues.
@ggreenwald@janecoaston But precision would be helpful in this issue (and in politics generally), no?
I've been looking for you to precisely and concretely defend your "realignment" thesis, by arguing that Republicans in Congress have more pro-worker policies than Democrats. You haven't done so yet.
@ggreenwald@RichardHanania@lhfang Glenn's theory that wokeness is associated with anti-working class politics is further discredited by the fact that the pre-woke Clinton Administration (Bill Clinton 1990s) was far more anti-worker and pro-corporation in its economic policy.
@ggreenwald@RichardHanania@lhfang How do you know they're pretending? The country has moved way to the Left on economic policy, and Dems want to win votes. It's not that complicated.
Look at Biden's infrastructure plan, climate change plan, and the already-passed stimulus.
@ggreenwald I get your criticism of woke. What seems disingenuous is your claim that the entire program and effect of the contemporary liberal-Left has been "corporatism." By any honest measure, today's Dems have better econ policies than GOP, and much better than e.g. Dems in 1990s.
@canuck_commie @ggreenwald@BenBurgis Trump (for whom Glenn constantly shills) sent American bombs to help Saudi Arabia murder Yemeni people, despite the opposition of Congress to this.
@bella_winter_1@ggreenwald@BenBurgis OK sure, but isn't Glenn's hourly appeal to this the kind of personal experience (and that of his family) precisely the kind of identity politics he claims is overplayed by the Left?
@ggreenwald@HenAJaHan_@BenBurgis Glenn, can you write a piece systematically defending your "realignment" theory? I genuinely do not understand your argument that GOP politicians (all of whom voted against $15 minimum wage, and virtually all of whom oppose any tax hike) are better on economic policy than Dems.
@BenBurgis@ggreenwald Ben, do you agree with Glenn's "realignment" meme, according to which the Republicans (all of whom voted against a $15 minimum wage) are now the real Leftists, at least on economic policy? (Don't forget Glenn called Tucker and Bannon and 2016 Trump "socialists!")
@canuck_commie @ggreenwald@BenBurgis So, according to Glenn, people who oppose Islam (a religion) are racists but people who use racial slurs against Arabs are not? More likely Glenn is just an opportunist who was woke (against principled atheists) before it became a thing, now denies MAGA has any racism problem.
@BenBurgis There are a lot of prominent people who pretend to be pro-working class (albeit not "Leftist"), e.g. Tucker Carlson and Josh Hawley, who are obvious bigots. These people are coddled by self-described Leftists like Greenwald and Dore.
This is the phenomenon that bothers ppl.
@ggreenwald@BenBurgis What about Tucker calling Iraqis "primitive animals" Glenn? As the parent of non-white children and (pre-woke) hyper-vigilant critique of Islamophobia/anti-Arab racism, doesn't this bother you?
@ggreenwald@BenBurgis It's kind of cringe how you claim to be anti-identity politics but invoke your family and sexual orientation (i.e. your identity/life experience; i.e. identity politics) on a regularly basis to defend yourself from twitter anons.
@ggreenwald Silicon Valley/Wal Street=culturally liberal and fiscally right-wing. The donations show they prioritized their cultural liberalism (/contempt for Trump/MAGA) over their right-wing economic views. But the fact remains that Biden wants to increase their taxes and regulatory burden
@ggreenwald Are Dems in government really restricting free speech? I agree with your concerns in this regard but it seems like this is all happening in the private sector, not through politicians and laws.
@ggreenwald LOL Glenn thinks that it was affluent suburbanites, and not black voters, who were Biden's most reliable supporters in Georgia, Michigan, and Wisconsin.
