(1/7) A lot of talk about Clemson “opening up the playbook” against Wake
🧵 Here are 7 new plays/variations from Saturday they hadn’t shown much of (if at all) in the 1st 3 games that I’m looking forward to seeing more of 👇
Haven’t had time to do any film reviews the 2nd half of the season. I’ve had my hands full with one of Clemson’s newest fans, who is going on 6 weeks old now, but I’ll be posting some breakdowns of the ACCCG & other games the back half of the season.
Go Tigers!
Everyone will talk about the Chase/Cade comparison for the 2018/2022 games vs. ‘Cuse. But the real story in both games was Clemson’s ability to rely on their OL & Etinenne/Shipley & Mafah to control each game. Exactly 293 yards rushing in both, despite 3/4 turnovers.
@TigerTalkin How you blocking up speed option against the defensive look Cuse gave?
How are you blocking up inside zone and counter against the stack?
Typical 🤡 blaming the offensive line for anything that goes wrong
@TigerTalkin That’s criticism of the OC, not the OL. Was the OL perfect every play? No, but to say they’re getting dominated is laughable.
“Strictly a stats guy”?
Might want to actually check out the content on this profile
@TigerTalkin No I was watching. They ran it on 4th & 2 after 8 consecutive runs immediately before, averaging 4 YPC. Tell me what adjustments you would like to see from the offensive line specifically?
“Block better” doesn’t count.
@DWieber0311@theACC He was trying to draw the holding call. He abused the kid on the 1st drive when they called the facemask penalty. He was able only able to get the one hand to the QB’s helmet because he was getting tackled after beating the LT
Fade/Out vs. Cover 2
•Allen & Briningstool both split out as #1 & #2 WR
•Corner sits for the Out, & DJ hits Allen up the sideline before the safety can get over the top
•Impressive 🐇s from Allen at 250
If there’s one thing that has been consistent across all levels of football recently, it’s that obvious holding penalties are called only a fraction of the time they could/should be.
Check out the RG on Tyler Davis this play. Impressively bad.
QB Counter “Bash” out of 2 Back
•G & T pulling with QB reading boundary DE
•Mafah running wide with Shipley leading
•DE stays wide for opposite back, so DJ pulls & picks up 7
