JICA Rwanda Participates in the Africa Coffee and Tea Expo 2026

JICA Rwanda Officials led by Mr. SAKAMOTO Atsuki, Chief Representative of JICA Rwanda, participated in the Africa Coffee and Tea Expo (ACT Expo) 2026, which was officially opened by Hon. Dr. Telesphore Ndabamenye, Minister of Agriculture and Animal Resources of Rwanda. JICA joined the event as part of its support to Rwanda's coffee sector through the Coffee Value Chain Upgrading Project (CUP2), which works with coffee cooperatives to improve quality, productivity, and market access. The event brings together key stakeholders from across the coffee and tea value chains to promote trade, investment, and partnership opportunities.

In his opening remarks, Minister Ndabamenye called for stronger collaboration, innovation, value addition, and sustainable investment to enhance the competitiveness and resilience of Africa's coffee and tea sectors.

More than a traditional exhibition, ACT Expo serves as a continental B2B platform that connects producers, exporters, buyers, investors, researchers, and policymakers, fostering business linkages and market opportunities across Africa and beyond.

On the sidelines of the event, Mr. SAKAMOTO Atsuki met with leaders of the three pilot cooperatives supported by the CUP2 Project to discuss their progress, challenges, and opportunities for future collaboration. This week, we held a 4-day cupping & marketing training with our pilot coops Kopakaki, Arabica & Coakaki cooperatives 🌱

CUP2 has started Training to Trainers(TOT) on Good Agricultural Practices,a training to 16 lead farmers at KOPAKAKI,These farmers will extend their knowledge to other farmers for sustainable within the cooperative, The plan is to conduct the trainings to all project pilot co-ops.
