"I love the simplicity"

(And that's why I take coaches to club study visits)

Yesterday was the 1st club study visit for coaches on my Coach Accelerator Masterclass community this season.

We had the pleasure of visiting @CambridgeUtdFC Academy thanks to @CU_CoachLiam.

There was one word that a coach kept saying over and over again.

Simplicity.

The simplicity of the curriculum.
The simplicity of the messages.
The simplicity of the sessions.

This is why I am so passionate about grassroots coaches "seeing the level".

Because experiences like yesterday break down common preconceived ideas that you need more complexity in your delivery.

And it's no surprise that in the most recent rankings (2023/24), @CambridgeUtdFC climbed to 46th place in the @ground_guru Academy Productivity rankings.

But what would stood out the most?

The genuine family feel of the club.

(It reminded me of my time at @SUFCRootsHall)

So here are the 3 biggest takeaways:

1. Genuine pathway of opportunity for grassroots players
2. Help players to be more instinctive on the pitch
3. Coach involvement in shaping curriculums

And yesterday was a reminder of why I am so passionate about coaches having experiences at category 3 academies.

Because the opportunities are there for you at a quicker rate.

We hosted an academy Goalkeeper day during half term for our U9 - U14’s goalkeepers who took part in an analysis workshop and training session led be our first team goalkeeper coach Martin Davies whilst also being given the opportunity to watch the first team train. The boys were also gifted signed gloves by the first team goalkeepers, fantastic experience for everyone involved! 🧤
