I remember exactly where I was on September 11th 2001 - I was in university at the time, and watched the second plane hitting the south tower live on TV. I couldn't believe what I was seeing.
Yesterday, alongside the US Ambassador Warren Stephens, Director General of MI5, Sir Ken McCallum, and the Met Police Deputy Commissioner, Matt Jukes, we paid tribute to the thousands murdered by Islamist terrorists, including 67 British people, at the US Embassy memorial service.
Twenty-five years on, their families still carry that loss. We all still mourn them. It was a terrible day for not just in the US, for the UK and the world. We will never forget them.
On the £102m National Express deal; We are calling for clarity on costs, risks, and the impact on local taxpayers. Residents deserve full transparency on how the agreement was reached and what it means for future bus services.

Congratulations to everyone getting their results today 🎉
We believe those who work hard for a better life should keep more of what they earn.
That's why the next Conservative government will scrap real interest rates on student loans.
"Coventry residents face yet another bus fare rise under Labour Mayor Richard Parker — hitting families and workers already struggling with costs. Public transport should empower, not penalise."

Thank you for sharing this Cllr @pinder_chauhan.
Residents of Coventry; The big change you are expecting with Reform is an illusion. Just look at Reform local authorities in this country to know what is going to happen if you vote for them.
Residents across West Northamptonshire are beginning to feel the impact of the Reform administration who have only been elected for one year. After the budget was pushed through last month, the impact of the budget is now coming to fruition.
Here are some of the things they've introduced through West Northants Council 👇:
🔶️ Reform are charging people to use our Country Parks, including in West Hunsbury in my ward.🌳
🔶️ Removed free parking on the weekends in out Town Centre, whilst increasing parking charges. ❌️
🔶️ Are charging blue badge holders to park at WNC car parks 😳
🔶️ Increased Council Tax, but failed to collect the bins on the same day (you couldn't make it up). ♻️
🔶️Increased green waste bins charges. 🚮
What they haven't done is cut waste, stop the boats or reduced Council Tax, as they promised in their LOCAL election leaflets in May 2025.
Welcome to a Reform run administration 🙄😤
As we marked Holocaust Memorial Day at @coventrycc , remembering the six million Jews who were murdered, we reflected on the deeply troubling times we are living in, with the rise of antisemitism once again across our societies. We listened to powerful testimonies of the horrors of Auschwitz and were reminded that genocide does not happen overnight, it is systematic, deliberate, and enabled over time.
While listening, I could not help but think of the mass killings currently taking place inside Iran, where the regime is brutally murdering innocent protesters. This is the same regime that funds antisemitism abroad and openly calls for the destruction of Israel.
As we remember, my thoughts and prayers are with the families of those who have lost their loved ones. One thing is clear: we are not learning enough from our history and this must change.

VICTORY for common sense.
Our plan to get kids off social media has cross-party support.
It's time for Labour to put country before party, and back it too.
Cllr Gary Ridley, Leader of Coventry Conservatives reacts to todays budget where hard working family's will suffer £26 billion in tax hikes.
The conservatives are the only party with a plan to get growth going up and taxes going down. #Conservative
This morning, our community came together at the War Memorial Park for the Remembrance Sunday service.
We stood in gratitude and reflection to honour those who served and sacrificed for the freedoms we cherish today.
“They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old;
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun, and in the morning,
We will remember them.”
Lest we forget. 🌺
