A lot of you learned to use person-first language when it comes to disability — “my son with autism” rather than “my autistic son” — because that word order puts the person first. We need to see the person before the disability, they said.

Read this thread. If you don’t know if your workplace or school, etc is accessible, figure it out.
It should not have to be on disabled people to figure it out for you.

Also all disabilities are real and valid, whether you can see them or not. This is not acceptable. Period.

When people deny disabled people's accomodations. It's not like okay I can just go without it. What really happens is that we end up hurting ourselves cause of the denial of accomodations.

They're not nice to haves or extras. They're things that disabled people desperately need.

Ableism is everywhere, including the 2020 Paralympics, though this isn’t Tokyo’s fault but rather the U.S.’s.

The USOPC refused a necessary accommodation for American athlete @becca_meyers, so she will be unable to compete.
