@DMGibson6 @BobbyMilone29 Raley is decent, but the Cubs gave up their #2 prospect for him. Weaver wasn't great last year for the Yankees. The fact of the matter is that there's a ticking time clock on middle relievers. If they had real ability, they'd be starters or closers.

@DonnieCSports You don't mention the difficulty of the pitchers adjusting to a new catcher. For a marginal offensive improvement, that risk isn't worth it.

@DMGibson6 @BobbyMilone29 There's nothing wrong with that. Outside of Mason Miller, it's not clear that any deadline reliever in 2025 would have been good with the Yankees. You can say the same thing this year re Senzatela, Weaver, Raley, etc. Relievers are a crap shoot.

@DMGibson6 @BobbyMilone29 Bird had a good FIP and underlying metrics. It was a reasonable assumption to assume that leaving Colorado would help him. Doval, as a former closer, cost more than $6M this year. An extra year of control for him at that cost was a negative rather than a good.
