@TrentTelenko Well, that's a lie. California have spent $11B so far on the rail network project the bridge is part of. The bridge itself did not cost that much.

It's still darn expensive though and the whole project is now expected to be at least thee times as expensive as planned.

@TrentTelenko I wonder where the 320 GRAD MLRS number comes from. According to Wikipedia it's "2 × 30 122 mm rocket launcher A-215 Grad-M" on a Projekt 775.

OTOH a 775 does have a 500 tonne cargo hold. If half of that was explosives that matches the damage to the railway station decently.

@aiammaia @DefMon3 C.f. "smörgåsbord" which literally translates to "sandwich table", but rather means "a buffet or table with a wide selection of sandwiches to choose from" and has evolved into "a wide selection of /something/". And now has been imported into English as "smorgasbord". :)

@aiammaia @DefMon3 Thanks. Swedish is kind of funny, we often have a single word which doesn't have a direct translation in English. And as a native Swedish speaker it's easy to get stuck trying to find such a word, when what's needed is a whole expression with multiple words.

@DefMon3 @aiammaia The English expression doesn't quite convey the full meaning of the Swedish word though. "Ground frost" just means that there is frost on the ground, "tjäle" means that the frost goes deep.

Before destroying the Kakhovka dam today, the Russians raised the water level to a record-high 17.5 meters by keeping the gates closed.

The wanted to make the flooding as large as possible in order to stop the Ukrainian Army from conducting a counteroffensive in the area

Someone is filming a screen playing recorded footage in slow motion. That's why the image is moving. It's sometimes possible to see the date and clock in the upper right hand corner of the screen. The playback seems to be running at about 1:3 of real time.

@TrentTelenko I have to disagree with your assertion that there are multiple compressor stations. According to Wikipedia NS1 has only one compressor station Portovaya and NS2 one in Slavyanskaya.
