One of the reasons that I don't accept the "nuking USAID killed millions of people" framing is because most of the people saying this never took the stance that the US was a tremendously good and heroic force for saving millions of people
"we couldn't do anything useful for citizens in my 14 years of office allocating 60 trillion USD. but if we can just steal from the rocket science electric car guy, then we can solve all your problems."
🇨🇮 Yan Diomandé’s letter to his sister through @PlayersTribune:
“Dear Roxane,
Remember when someone bought me a fake United shirt, and I wrote “Ronaldo 7” on the back with a black Sharpie? We didn’t know what rich or poor was. We only knew happiness.
Remember the 25 people sleeping in just one house back in Abidjan? Mom wanted to watch her soap operas. Everyone wanted to watch movies. Remember how I’d always pretend I was asleep and then sneak to the TV room after midnight? I’d turn the TV way down low. Like, just two volume bars. I’d watch soccer in the dark and dream.
Remember when the grown-ups saw me playing soccer on the dirt and gave me the nickname “Roberto Carlos” because of how hard I kicked? And remember how I secretly got so mad about it, because CR7 was my idol?
Remember when I went to play so far from home? I was 9 years old. Inter Foot Sud Comoé, way out near the border with Ghana. Just a little boy all alone. I don’t know if I ever told you this story, but me and the other kids used to go to the village and steal potatoes because we were so hungry. We called it a “bank heist.” Two kids would distract the shop owner, and the other 18 would run off with two potatoes. They weren’t even good. But they tasted amazing. Hahahah. Even today, it’s my favorite thing to eat. Boiled potatoes with a little oil. It takes me back to those times.
Remember when I got my first real pair of cleats, and I slept with them? Growing up, I always played in those white plastic sandals. Even when I go back home now, I still play in them. It’s our tradition.
Remember when I’d come back home, and you’d tell my neighborhood friends: “Why’d you stop training? Yan’s not gonna buy you cars. You gotta keep working.” You were 10 years old, and you were already my agent.
Remember how we’d sit and dream about moving to France? How we’d go shopping, have our own apartment, and I’d be a rich soccer player, with cars and a big house, and you wouldn’t have to worry about anything. You were the one who always believed I could be the next Cristiano, when everyone else was laughing.
Remember when I moved to the United States for high school, at 15 years old, and I missed home so much? For months, I couldn’t understand what anyone was saying. They sat me next to a French boy, and he’d try to translate everything the teacher said. Remember when I called you and said: “You won’t believe it, the kids here argue with the teachers.” Back home, you know, we wouldn’t even dare blink at our elders.
Remember when I couldn’t believe the boys smoked after school? You used to say it felt like I was in an American TV show.
Remember when they took me for trials at Bournemouth? At Chelsea, Rangers, Olympiacos, Crystal Palace? Eze and Olise came up to me after a training session and said: “Hey, kid, you’re really good.”… but even then, they didn’t sign me.
Even the MLS B teams didn’t want me. I didn’t even know why. They never gave me a reason. The adults handled everything. They just kept taking me all over Europe, and everyone kept saying no.
My visa expired. My dream was over. They sent me back to Africa, and we cried together. You were the only one who never stopped believing. A few weeks later, I signed with Leganés, and we cried different tears.
That was back when I still had emotions. Now, I don’t feel anything. It’s like I’m not even human. Since you died, I’m just empty.”
Elon could literally solve homelessness tomorrow.
All he needs to do is sell his stake in the companies he created from the ground up, crashing the price and evaporating his wealth as well as the savings and pensions of workers globally.. handing the control of these companies over to short term profit interests and preventing any long term vision from being enacted..
THEN take whatever money that remains which will be nowhere near 1tn and give it to homeless charities who have never solved homelessness anywhere on earth because they’re financially incentivised to do the opposite.
Bam - homelessness solved.
The reason he doesn’t do any of this is because he’s evil.
Ro, you’re lying and you know it.
You compared a man’s net worth to a country’s GDP. A balance sheet to a year of output. You went to Yale. You learned the difference between a stock and annual output flow.
But being a politician and lawyer, you love to lie and gaslight the economic illiterates, it’s your entire business model.
You want a 5% tax on Elon to fund free trade school for every American.
Trade school costs $80B/yr, you can’t even fund a year.
Elon doesn’t have $55B in cash. It’s stock. You know this.
To pay, he sells roughly $70B of Tesla and SpaceX shares, and the sale itself gets taxed on top. SpaceX raised $75B at its IPO this morning at a $1.77 trillion valuation.
Imagine him selling that amount every year.
Ro isn’t taxing Elon. He’s taxing everyone who gas exposure to the market. Every pension fund and index fund on the planet gets wrecked. And given Ro, he’ll insider trade and short before the bill passes.
And for what? To rip capital from the best allocator alive and hand it to the most incompetent institution in human history. Elon turned PayPal gains into Tesla and SpaceX: 120,000 jobs, launch costs down 90%, two industries that didn’t exist, a $1.77 trillion company from nothing.
You’ve never built anything. You’ve never employed anyone. You’ve never created a dollar of value in your life. You collect a government salary and demand tribute from men who do what you can’t.
Your machine spends $7 trillion a year and still runs a $1.8 trillion deficit. It loses up to $521 billion a year to fraud. More than your entire tax raises. The Department of Education went from $34 billion in 2000 to $268 billion in 2024. 8x the money. Reading scores at multi-decade lows. Trade schools still unfunded.
You don’t lack money. You lack competence, and you want Elon to subsidize it.
You haven’t donated your wealth. You haven’t moved into government housing. Empty your accounts first, Ro. Then preach.
Elon’s options get taxed as ordinary income at the top rate when exercised. Over $500 billion in lifetime taxes, the largest tax stream from one human ever. You want $55 billion now in a way that craters the shares the $500 billion depends on. Your tax doesn’t raise money. It kills the companies, kills the jobs, kills the pensions, and torches a bigger check already in the mail.
You’re the monkey in the middle, Ro. You can’t build. You can’t allocate. You can’t even count. So you eat from everyone else’s pie and call it fairness.
There are places we pass through in life… and there are places that become part of who we are.
Manchester will forever be my home.
To the city, the club, and every supporter, my sincerest thank you. These past four years have been unforgettable, filled with moments my family and I will carry with us for the rest of our lives. There simply aren’t enough words to describe the happiness and warmth we’ve felt here.
Thank you for every cheer, every memory, and for making us feel at home from the very first day.
Forever a Red Devil ❤️
Here's how this works in a nutshell.
1. Congress makes federal immigration laws. It's their job.
2. Federal officers enforce these laws with the oversight and direction of the executive branch. It's their job.
3. Local law enforcement arrests criminals and if they're found to be illegals, they detain them for ICE. It's their job.
4. ICE sends 1 or 2 agents and a peaceful exchange of custody of the illegal takes place in the local jail. It's their jobs.
When steps 3 and 4 are ignored and fails, the illegal is released back into the population and ICE has to hunt them down.
If local law enforcement doesn't give ICE intelligence of where to find said illegal it becomes more labor intensive and requires more agents and resources.
If protests take place as ICE has to overcome the lack of locals ignoring steps 3 and 4, locals have the responsibility to control the protests.
MN deliberately skipped steps 3 and 4 then failed to control the protests.
Totally a local fail.
Well, it seems like I have to spend my morning correcting these fucking liars...
Thomas, you duplicitous, grandstanding fraud...
First, the oil isn't "stolen."
It's lawfully seized Venezuelan crude from Maduro's criminal regime...tankers and cargoes violating U.S. sanctions that Congress itself authorized through multiple statutes (CAATSA, VERDAD Act, and repeated appropriations for OFAC enforcement).
The executive branch, under IEEPA powers Congress delegated, blocks, seizes, and forfeits sanctioned property.
This isn't theft; it's enforcement of law against a narco-terrorist state that starved its people and funded Hezbollah.
Calling it "stolen" makes you sound like a Maduro apologist or a useful idiot...pick one.
Since you are a fucking libertarian I'll go with both...
Second, the proceeds aren't being funneled into "Trump's personal piggy bank."
That's a venomous, baseless smear worthy of MSNBC, not a sitting Congressman.
The funds from these sales are parked in a protected Qatari account precisely to shield them from predatory creditors (ConocoPhillips, Crystallex, etc.) who hold billions in valid U.S. court judgments against Maduro's regime.
The goal: preserve the money for the Venezuelan people under a future legitimate government, not let it be siphoned off by vulture funds in U.S. courts.
This is textbook sanctions policy...neutral offshore escrow to prevent asset dissipation.
We've done variants for Iran, Russia, Afghanistan. It's strategic, not corrupt.
Third, your hysterical screech about "only Congress can appropriate money" is constitutional illiteracy wrapped in performative outrage.
These aren't U.S. taxpayer dollars drawn from the Treasury requiring annual appropriation.
They are forfeited foreign assets...proceeds of sanctioned property.
The executive has longstanding authority to manage, liquidate, and direct such funds under existing statutory frameworks without new line-item appropriation each time.
If every seized tanker sale needed a separate vote, sanctions would be toothless. Your purported "originalist" reading collapses the moment you touch reality.
You're not defending the Constitution, Thomas.
You're posturing for clicks while undermining a policy that starves a brutal regime of revenue and preserves resources for Venezuela's liberation.
This is the same spineless isolationist reflex that leaves tyrants untouched and Americans exposed.
You lecture about fiscal restraint yet clutch pearls when the executive uses delegated powers to crush a hemisphere-threatening socialist kleptocracy.
Wake up yourself, Congressman.
Your selective outrage isn't principle...it's cowardice dressed as conviction. America First demands strength against dictators, not impotent whining from the cheap seats.
The Republic endures despite quislings like you.
In other words, get your fucking head out of your fucking ass... Thomas.
Knowing when stages come to an end.
Knowing when to say goodbye when you feel that you will be remembered and respected forever.
Four months to give my all for this badge and for our goal.
Eternal respect and affection for Manchester United and its wonderful fans.
Forever Red Devil.
Fascism is when Donald Trump enforces laws that Barack Obama enforced, but with the key distinction that Democrats are big mad about losing the election and so that makes it fascism.
2016. Obama's Press Secretary is asked about reports that during immigration raids, ICE agents were storming into homes, going room to room looking for illegals, and making children tremble with fear.
I thought only fascist Presidents do that sort of thing.
Why was the press so civil? Why weren't they crying or at least calling Obama a nazi?
How come nobody was shaving their head in protest? Surely there were a bunch of angry white liberal wine moms outside the building screaming at the top of their lungs, right?
Always keep in mind how fake and performative the outrage is.
Very important info about the ICE shooting:
The agent that shot Renee Good yesterday, as she drove toward him, had been dragged by a car over 300ft just 6 months ago by a man who had been charged with sex crimes against a child.
This is a photo of him in the hospital.
This happened one month after Tim Walz called ICE the modern day Gestapo. The agent had over 30 stitches, luckily escaping death.
So being hit or dragged by a car wasn’t some theoretical event he had the luxury of Monday morning quarterbacking. He had ONE SECOND to make a judgement call with a car accelerating at him: Shoot to save my life or potentially die being run over or caught and dragged by this car?
A very compelling argument can be made that Democrat politicians are to blame for both events here. In one, an illegal was radicalized to believe he could run from the "Gestapo" and likely believed the Walz Admin would protect him. In this one a woman radicalized by Dem politicians and media believed that she could impede law enforcement without consequence. She ended up dead as a result.
The position Democrats are putting our ICE agents in is just objectively dangerous and evil.
Kyle Rittenhouse was demonized by the media for driving 20 miles from Antioch, Illinois to Kenosha, Wisconsin to attend a protest.
Meanwhile, Renee Good drove over 350 miles from northern Missouri to Minneapolis to interfere with federal law enforcement—
Where’s the outrage?
