If we want to preserve democracy, then it's our Blue Brain that we have to liberate. That means learning all about biases, reasoning and primes. What we're seeking is to have our Blue Brains unfettered, unleashed, aware of what's happening around and inside us.
The fundamental unit of human existence is the dyad. So, when we get in trouble, we don't need someone to lecture. What we need is human contact, which exercises the sedative effect on us. And by the same token, as I regulate someone else, I regulate myself. It's a two-way street
Once we’ve recognized just how overstressed we are, we then need to develop strategies to get us back to #calm. When we reach that point, we are ready for the fifth step of Self-Reg: restoration.
Stress cycle = a stress-system that is pushed too hard for too long & you start to experience signs that you are not getting back to baseline: that your restorative mechanisms are losing their #resilience. 🧠
In what ways have you seen this lately? 🔗 https://t.co/UY2xDHYR8k
Through taking one of our courses, our intention is not to say you're never going to have a #RedBrain moment again. That would mean that we'd somehow stop you from being human. But what's wonderful is that, through #SelfReg, with that self-awareness, comes relief.
To the teachers who saved my life: you inspired this poem.
Though there are many challenges & changes in education, I am so proud of the staff who work tirelessly through.
You shape lives in & out of classrooms - this is for you. #ThankYouTeachers#BackToSchool#CutsHurtKids
There's lots of stressors right now that we cannot reduce or remove. But what we can do for ourselves & ultimately for others is to permit ourselves to restore. @Self_Reg Practice 5 encourages us to do things every day that refill our tank. Taking care of yourself isn't selfish!
The less we are fixated on intrusive thoughts and worries, the more aware we become of what is happening inside and around us #Mindfulness#Reflect#SelfReg
