Trouble is because our population lives at opposite ends of the continent with a little bit in the middle. The central corridor doesn't fit neatly so we do 1/2.

Took me three tweets to do it. That zone you speak of is the IK ("India-Kilo") timezone. So named because it is halfway between the India and Kilo timezones on the global system.

The Canberra does whatever Sydney does and Perth lacks daylight savings. In summer they are 90min behind Darwin, 2h behind Brisbane, 2.5h behind Adelaide and 3h behind Sydney, Melbourne and Hobart. Simple?

During summer Adelaide is 30 min ahead of Brisbane but is 30 min behind during winter. Darwin is the same time as Adelaide in winter but 1 hour behind in summer (no daylight savings)

Sydney, Melbourne and Hobart are the same time as each other and Adelaide is 30 min behind them. Brisbane is an hour behind Sydney but only during summer. 1/2

But thankyou. Last week was a bit nippy though, it got down to 14 degrees C one day and I needed a light coat in the morning. @blogofdad understands that the struggle is real.
