For the VRChat mappers out there;
With the recent waves that the JP side of VRChat is experiencing with a mapper being wrongfully banned, I feel I should share my experience so that others can avoid being intentionally/unintentionally banned since there's been a growing number of cases for it at least from what I've seen personally.
The Terms of Service is quite vague for a reason and all-reaching for a reason as I was suspended(although justified!) on January 8, 2025. When I had gotten suspended, I went to great lengths to understand why I was suspended and what to correct and fix and it was because of this however that I truly had learned just how insane that ToS really is. So here is what was quite notable to me that a lot do not realize--
Context matters, severely. What the world is representing and the purpose of the world is what'll dictate if they take action or not. Here are some examples of what I mean;
⊶ If you name your worlds, sections of the map, or anything clearly visible with some sort of sexual indication or context-- they'll hit you. The world I got suspended for was at the time called, "Eros District". So yes, if I gave a world a sexual name and yet the world itself is some kind of horror world? It'll get you subjected to moderation.
⊶ World descriptions too can get you suspended or subjected to harsher review. Eros District's world description was that the world was a "hook-up" world. Because of that, Eros District was subjected to harsher review.
⊶ Any avatar pictures with any sort of hint towards sexual manner and/or context will get you hit though, this should be a given.
⊶ Private worlds too can get you suspended in the context of it being used to host parties, events, etc(and yes, this is how a lot of the 18+ groups got hit too in context of hosting 18+ sex sessions/parties). If anyone reports it, even just one? It gets treated as a public world/instance similarly to how players can be suspended/banned for anything that happens in private instances. It's literally in their Terms of Service in the case of player reports.
So stay safe out there VRChat mappers and hopefully my personal experience provides some insight especially if you're "that" type of mapper. Please correct me if I'm wrong with any of my information based on my experience and inquiry as even then, VRChat's moderation can be very inconsistent making certain matters difficult to believe. I'd love to learn so if you've additional information that not even I or others know about, please share so we can not get suspended just out of nowhere with no legitimate reasons.
If you're wondering where I got my information as well-- not only did I inquire via. the ticket system but I'm also in the VRChat Streamer Hotline Discord group and asked for a staff as I was hellbent on making Eros District at the time, cleaned up so I don't get suspended again, lol.
