@SpartanHoops_DK Felt like Carr, Kohler, and Fears all hit a bit of a fatigue wall those last 4 minutes or so. Think you have to find a way to buy them some extra rest. Scott seemed to do all the little things you want to see. Loved his effort!
@MitchL24 I can’t remember the exact statistics but football and men’s basketball do generally pay for the rest of the athletic program to function. Again, I wasn’t expecting a playoff appearance. But the absolute minimums aren’t there in year 2 and that’s just unacceptable.
@MitchL24 Looking at this team and the rest of the schedule, plus that upcoming UM game, the future looks bleak. What position group looks improved from a year ago? Is recruiting going to improve as the L’s stack up? I think we’re stuck in an awful spot as a program.
@MitchL24 I think he made some great hires. I also think men’s basketball and football are the big revenue sports that allow the rest to function. Giving Mel his massive contract, the Smith hire, lack of NIL, disconnect from donors seemed to be his undoing.
@MitchL24 I’m an old soul so Jenison has a very serious nostalgia factor for me and I do think Haller made some quality hires in non revenue earning sports. I like the hire of the new AD and I hope he’s able to make some positive changes throughout the athletic department.
@MitchL24 And maybe it’s the Italian in me (lol). Maybe it’s watching 20+ years of Izzo. I’m not sure. But it’s confusing and embarrassing to me that I saw more passion and energy from you as a high school coach than I do a coach of a major D1 football program. No disrespect to you at all
@MitchL24 I think with the resources available the product the last 10 years hasn’t met reasonable expectations. We aren’t OSU, Bama, UGA, etc. But we should be a bowl team every year. I think 7-8 wins is reasonable. Instead this has been an absolute embarrassment for quite some time.
@MitchL24 I think both of those things are incredibly important! How do you balance that with seasons where this program could be looking at 3-4 wins total this year and falling deeper into irrelevancy?
@MitchL24 I’m not a huge fan of a lot of the changes happening in college sport with NIL, portal, money>everything else. But I also think generally speaking we have to adapt or get left behind. I think in this new landscape the Dantonio model is obsolete unfortunately.
@MitchL24 I have mixed feelings about Urban. I don’t think you can argue against his recruiting and college coaching ability. I do think he’s passionate and expects excellence. Is he the most high character coach? I think that’s debatable for sure.
@MitchL24 I don’t care how big the rebuild, effort and discipline are independent from talent. It’s insane to me we have a Coach who shows absolutely 0 emotion and gives the same coach speak answers week after week. Something has to change. I don’t know a single fan that thinks this is ok.
@MitchL24 I think it just depends on what you want to believe and how much donors want to step up. Not saying it would’ve been the right move but according to some reporting MSU donors/BOT were ready to hire Urban and meet his high demands for NIL and assistants.
I remember once when I was gov contracting for the agency I was working in a remote part of the Middle East. We had a boss who I couldn't stand, he had almost gotten us killed on multiple occasions, he couldn’t make a decision for the life of him, and overall was just a terrible leader. Everyone I worked with agreed and despised him.
One day after some detected surveillance which later became an engagement directly due to his leadership I looked at my counter part and said this:
“Honestly, if it wasn’t your job, would you save that piece of shit?”
He looked at me dead in the eyes and said:
“F*ck yes I would, that is a f*cking American.”
Then he got closer knowing where I was going with this and said in a stern voice:
“Wouldn’t you?”
It was at that point in time that I realized I was the piece of shit, not the person I was pointing my finger at. I knew that instant that I was a horrible representation of the flag that I wore on my chest and that I didn’t even deserve to be there. I immediately adjusted my attitude, but I felt ashamed for even having thought of not rendering aid or conducting combat to save another American simply because I did not agree with his decision making.
It is that exact sentiment that I see in this country today. Wishing the worst, death and beyond on another American because they think differently than you. A whole lot of finger pointing and not a lot of self reflection.
We all have blood on our hands at this point.
Every race
Every gender
Every religion, political party, sexual preference, nationality, and so on…
I don’t know what it’s going to take for the country to learn this lesson, but it is not going to get any better and continue getting worse until we all realize that we are all “f*cking Americans”.
Give yourself the room to say “You know what, I never thought of it like that, maybe I’m wrong about this one.”
Be like my counterpart was, not like I was. We’re all in this together and we’re all American whether you like it or not.
My counterpart’s name was Anthony Del Vecchio callsign “Devo”. He was a great American.

With a win today over Auburn, @MSU_Basketball would clinch a 9th Final Four appearance under Tom Izzo's leadership. The Hall of Fame coach, from Iron Mountain, Michigan, is focused on his players living out their dreams.
@jiggyTrawww is the epitome of a Spartan Dawg! He’s selfless, plays tenacious defense, confident, and resilient. Love seeing how much he’s continued to develop. @CoachFlint22 must be incredibly proud! #GoGreen#Dawg
