I finished my PhD a week ago.

For example with my second- I went from 4 cm to my son being born in about an hour (lol story for another time)
But from first contraction, it was about 24 hours
How we define labor stages is important.
First stage of labor (0-10 cm) dilated is often broken up into latent (0-4 cm) and active (4-10 cm).
Reporting is often ACTIVE stages.
So it looks like mama was in labor for 6 hours but she’ll tell you it was 18 from 1st contraction
