Last month, Georgia and Pennsylvania became the latest states to extend postpartum Medicaid and CHIP coverage to the full year after pregnancy.
We must expand yearlong postpartum coverage in EVERY state!
Presented research on doula implementation at #APHA2022
Happy and grateful to be able to contribute to this work and to help support meaningful maternal health interventions. S/o to my mentor and maternal health scholar/shero @PhDiva0618 for giving me the space to bloom ✨
Many of the states enacting abortion bans already have high maternal mortality rates. Some have also failed to expand #Medicaid, leaving mothers and families without access to essential care. It's more important than ever to expand Medicaid to protect women's health.
1 in 3 maternal deaths take place between one week and one year after the end of a pregnancy.
We must expand postpartum Medicaid coverage from 60 days to 1 year in every state!
Congratulations to our grantee @meganbcole on being a most outstanding abstract winner at @AcademyHealth’s #ARM22. Her research presentation was also featured in the Best of Arm session. Donaghue is proud and honored to have supported such innovative research.

MA folks: @SenJoanLovely has filed an amendment to the Senate Budget for Fiscal Year 2023 to provide $1 million in funding for the development of the doula workforce to serve MassHealth members. Please contact your state senator to co-sponsor Amendment #485! #maternalhealth
I'm excited to see 11 states and D.C. support mothers before, during and after birth by working to extend postpartum Medicaid coverage for a full year after pregnancy!
We must make yearlong postpartum Medicaid coverage a permanent reality for every mother in every state.
