Taiwan MOE (教育部) recommends 咒誓 for the Taiwanese term tsiù-tsuā (to swear an oath)

However, I lean towards the 1931 Taiwanese-Japanese Dictionary (臺日大辭典) which uses 詛 for tsuā (“oath” 誓) & gives an example 咒重詛 (to swear a serious oath)

Ok, hear me out. In Hawaiian, Mahalo means thanks. In Taiwan’s indigenous Saisiyat (賽夏), ma'alo' means thanks & it comes from the root word 'alo' meaning blessing. In Hawaiian, it’s Aloha (good wishes)

Fascinating post-WWII signature "Ritunfui" by Lee Teng-hui (李登輝) using a Japanese-Taiwanese linguistic hybrid:

李 Ri (Japanese on'yomi)
登 Tun (Japanese on'yomi とう 'tō' + Taiwanese '-ng' sound as ん '-n')
輝 Fui (Taiwanese Hui via JP Hepburn rules 'fu')
