5. Stay local and stay for a while. The area is home to plenty other world class links golf courses - Royal Aberdeen, Murcar, Trump Aberdeen and Fraserburgh. Too many pass through the area and miss out on some great golf.

4. Embrace the blind shots. As an original Old Tom Morris design, you can face 6+ blind shots during your round. Remember, there wasn't bulldozer machinery back in the late 1800s, just men with shovels! Consider requesting a caddie, it will enhance your experience.

3. Get to the 1st tee early and experience the recently refurbished Old Clubhouse pavilion showcasing the Club's rich history. You might even get to try some Scotch Whisky!

2. Included in all green fees is a round on the Tom Simpson designed 9 hole St Olaf Course located in the middle of the main course. The complimentary round can be played the day prior, day of or day after.

It took me far too long to get to @Crudenbaygolf, when I did it lived up to all my expectations.

The dunes are more reminiscent of the west coast of Ireland than Scotland. It’s a course that definitely rewards imagination over brute force.
