Cabaret in the U.S. had different upbringings compared to European cabaret. Jazz music gained popularity in the U.S. and became the hot new sound of the country, drawing audiences of all backgrounds and influencing the rise of cabarets across the country.
Following the Franco-Prussian War and an economic depression, France entered into a period of celebration and prosperity. This became the stepping stone for the creation of the Moulin Rouge, one of the most celebrated and dazzling cabarets in history.
We had a blast with the University of Michigan Musical Theatre Seniors last Saturday! Thank you to everyone who came to either of our shows! The students had a spectacular set of songs they loved and inspired them. Thank you to our performance sponsors Marcie and Rob Orley.
Our next Cabaret show welcomes Natalie Douglas to perform her show "Four Women." See her on February 11, 2023, at 6:30 pm and 8:45 pm.

Cabaret has had a long history and is considered to have first been formed in the late 19th century. Le Chat Noir was a place where people of all backgrounds convened to collaborate and express themselves.
