If you draw mermaids with a human knee hinge bone structure instead of a fish tail structure you're an affront to god, probably several gods, and will surely suffer greatly for your crimes. I don't make the rules.

@storm_i_i@OroroReal@RaeRaeSloan8 You can have a stick to bite down on if you want but the stick is out of network. We suggest mindfulness to help alleviate some of your discomfort.
@kingbug97@SDeprived02@Telepeturtle How many hundreds of children were robbed of their fathers or mothers by the direct consequences of that CEO's decisions?
I didn't see so many people wringing their hands about /those/ children, but we should feel especially bad about these ones?
At Narita I find that this was a lie it seems, at least according to the @AmericanAir rep who not only refuses to let me speak to a manager, but who is extremely rude, asking me in mocking tones "Why can't you get home, did you forget your address?" and "Don't you have savings?"
I intended to contact them and try to take care of things once I had gotten home. Little did I know how much worse @AmericanAir would make things. Since I had to fly without the upgrade and its two free checked bags THAT I PAID FOR, my bags cost me 84,000 yen, all of my money.
@Cactu_Art We never want to leave anyone behind, and we're sorry. Your coupons have to be used in order for them to be valid. DM us your confirmation number so that we can follow up internally.
When I explained my situation at DFW and how I wasn't sure how I'd get home from NRT, having been so thoroughly deprived of resources, an @AmericanAir rep told me he'd add a note to my file to try and get me a voucher for transport, only the least AA ought to do at this point.
@AmericanAir I've DM'd you, will you actually help me? Will you at the very least and in the immediate, give me a voucher for transport to get home from the airport where I currently am STILL stranded after the rest of this extremely stressful and trying experience.
@AmericanAir@AmericanAir
has ever so graciously re-instated the ticket they cancelled without asking, sans the upgrade I paid for and ofc not for free, so I'm not stranded or panicked but still not happy that they caused a problem, made me pay for it & downgraded my seat on a 19 hour flight
@AmericanAir Has just stranded me in a country I don't live in, without a single phone call they cancelled my flight home for a multi-city trip because I missed one middle flight because of a family emergency and even phoned ahead to ask about it!
And now they want me to pay again for the ticket I already bought, because apparently it's just @AmericanAir Company Policy to cancel people's entire trips for one missed flight without so much as a single confirmation phone call.

@SparkySummers@KonbroA It depends, I've seen tech used similarly, to obliterate stakes/consequences, such as insta-realistic-prosthetic when someone lost an arm or other such magic-by-any-other-name technology.
It's less about magic itself or even fantasy than it is about authors remembering stakes.
@ScottsANerd @TheFederman To be clear I don't DISLIKE the city, I very much enjoy living where I am. It's convenient, right next to a nice park, and if I do want to go be in nature it's fairly easy to travel, just that I also enjoyed my previous town, and probably would have stayed sans job pressure.
@ScottsANerd @TheFederman Jobs. I like living in small towns but, you know, I need to eat. And given the same circumstances of needing to be employed versus not being able to keep a roof over their head (or having to get a much less lucrative job and struggle), probably most people would do the same.
@ScottsANerd @TheFederman Seconding the fact that it's an issue with the environment. I sold my car when I moved to the city because it would have been more expensive AND less convenient to keep driving. This goes for families too. I see many people riding bikes with one or two child seats on them.
