Everyone, especially you JP senseis, you cannot tell me you are swayed by this bandaid "fix", this is the most blatant damage control.
For us overseas people, they are introducing a pull tracker that based on number of pulls you do on a banner, you get rewards like a free ticket, up to 8, so they are saying they want you to go for 320 fucking pulls EVERY banner. Once you've accumulated the first time rewards, then we get repeat rewards for the rest of the banner's period.
This is an attempt to make us shut up, they know we are protesting but they insist on their bullshit, they are trying to distract us with bonus rewards to cover up the new garbage gacha system, keep spamming negative reviews and their contact form.
The Phantom Thieves have a message for @PlayStation CEO Hideaki Nishino :
To Hideaki Nishino,
President & CEO, Sony Interactive Entertainment
You seek to steal the freedom of choice from players by pushing a future where games exist only in the digital world.
You believe ownership is unnecessary, and that memories can be locked behind licenses and servers.
That distortion will not go unchallenged.
We will steal the Treasure that fuels your greed and return the power of choice to the players.
Prepare yourself.
We are coming.
From,
The Phantom Thieves of Hearts
Hideo Kojima comments on the end of physical game production today in Italy:
"Today you can still download data. But at one point games will make into streaming services like Amazon or Netflix and companies will decide if you can play a game or not [...] At this point I won't have anything of my own [...] the data will be somewhere in a company and I will have the right to access it or not depending on how much this data tap is opened.
The fact that the initial data is not in my possession but is somewhere held by a private company means that I will always have that risk that for any reason, whether commercial or political, the company could prevent access to that data and therefore I will no longer be able to see that film, I will no longer be able to play that game.
This is what's happening next for the world of video games and I fear it will also happen for cinema."
This really isn't a difficult concept to understand if you're of even average intelligence.
If you throw a plastic bottle on the ground, that's one piece of litter. Not a big deal, right? But if a million people throw their bottles on the ground, that's a million pieces of litter. Do you see how it adds up?
The exact same thing applies to shoplifting. If you steal $10 worth of merchandise, the store loses $10. If a million people all steal $10 worth of merchandise, the store loses ten million dollars. Are you following?
But they're a giant corporation, so who cares if they lose millions of dollars, right?
Well, guess what? That company isn't obligated to tolerate it. If a location loses too much money due to rampant shoplifting, that location becomes unprofitable. It costs the company more to keep that location open than it would to close it or move it somewhere else.
So you know what they do? They close it. Then that neighborhood ends up with one less store. That's one less place for people to buy their food, clothes, medicine, or whatever else they were selling, and it's one less place to get a job.
Guess what happens when every store decides it's not worth it to stay open in a particular neighborhood because everyone in it is individually stealing small amounts of merchandise which adds up to millions of dollars per year?
You get a food desert where no one has a place to work.
I am becoming progressively more worried for our humanity due to extensively terrifying improvements to AI generated content media.
From blatant misinformation to even the recent commercial adaptations of AI (acquisition of Suno into the music industry) WHICH NOBODY NEEDS.
We need artists to thrive - not feel discouraged.
Please be weary with what you see or hear online, contemporary media feels like nothing is real anymore.
AI sucks and we need to stand up against it.
In 1994 at the Game Developer Conference I was asked at a panel why Doom was all about targeting and shooting, and asked why it couldn't be more restrained. Like, why couldn't Doom have alternatives to shooting demons.
So I asked him, "Would you play Doom if it was toned down like that?"
He honestly said, "Probably not. It's not my kind of game. I like things like Populous and King's Quest."
I hear this a lot - someone doesn't like something I worked on, and wants me to change it even though they, themselves, won't play it. I guess they can't stand the idea of someone enjoying something different from them.
Actually had a guy say once, "Can't we talk to the demons?" I replied, "The demon says 'Your mother sucks cocks in Hell!' and attacks." He was mad.
