Caelum Audio just brought out a very cool new plugin for desktop/iPad, iPhone:
DynaBit
This is a good for raw, glitchy bitcrushed effects, and I also like using it clean, just for the repeater function. It’s definitely somewhat unique, as far as I know, at least on iOS. More info below. Note that the intro pricing runs until February 17th.
My only gripe is that it can be hard to dial in values on some of the knobs accurately, at least on the iOS version, though you can also enter numerical values. Main features:
Filtering & Frequency Control
•Apply bitcrushing to the entire signal or a specific frequency range
•Three filter types: Low-Pass, Band-Pass, and High-Pass
•Controls for Cutoff and Resonance
Bit Reduction & Sample Rate Manipulation
•Reduce sample rate down to 10Hz
•Minimize unwanted artifacts with a Nyquist filter
•Adjust sample shape with the Smoothen control
•Lower bit resolution to as low as 1 bit
•The Range Booster knob is very interesting. This allows for a stepped bitcrush sound while keeping dynamics intact. If the envelope isn’t fully restored, the effect increases sustain by amplifying quieter parts as sounds fade out. After boosting, the “Envelope” control can restore the original dynamics.
Glitchy repeats function
•Threshold, Time, and Num Repeats define repetition behavior
•Decay gradually fades repetitions
Modulation System
•2 LFOs, two sequencers, and two envelope followers
•MIDI control for external automation - this is super cool, allowing modulation from input midi velocity, note or CC values.
