Tim Wilson would like you to be frightened. He would prefer you not read the detail.
The three-second article flash. The missing context. The incomplete clip. The website that disappeared and reappeared.
As a Goldstein constituent who has watched Wilson since 2016, I recognise the method. Present just enough to frighten. Omit what contradicts. Move on before anyone checks.
The public record is clear. There is no death tax for ordinary Australians. Only new testamentary discretionary trusts for the wealthy are affected. Existing ones are exempt. These are not contested facts. Wilson has access to the same information every other member of parliament does.
This is the same playbook he ran on franking credits in 2019. The material changes. The method does not. Selective presentation of facts dressed up as advocacy - for people who are, once again, not his intended beneficiaries.
Goldstein constituents deserve a representative who informs rather than frightens. Who delivers rather than performs. Who serves the electorate rather than himself.
Wilson confuses noise with substance and attention with achievement. Now in his third term, that is all he has ever had - because substance was never the strategy. Performance, fear, and selective facts were always the whole plan.
Goldstein deserves better. It always did.

A good time to reshare this fabulous research from @tarabrabazon
A gift to all the haters of #EducatedWomen I’ve had dealings with over the last few days here on X 🤨
Imagine the outrage if a Federal MP asked "Show me a good Jew!" Yet Pauline Hanson can rptedly vilify the Australian Muslim community by asking "Show me a good Muslim!" Shouldn't she be charged under the new hatespeech laws?! #auspol#Islamophobia
Word of the year for 2026 should be 'alleged'. Not because it's new but because it's been (allegedly) forgotten as the foundational concept of the rule of law #dictionary#RuleOfLaw
@profbensaul@JoshFrydenberg As a matter of general policy, I find political interference into judicial appointments repellent & a slap in the face to a democratic nation like Australia
It reeks of Trump-style politics
Judge's appointments should never be decided by popularity contests & political outrage
It is disappointing that @JoshFrydenberg questions the capabilities of one of Australia’s most distinguished, highly regarded, fair and impartial legal figures. It is time to stop politicising any Bondi inquiry
The onslaught on @AlboMP over this Royal Commission business has been savage, vicious, unprincipled, bent on forcing regime change. The real question is: who do we want running the country ? The elected Prime Minister or the Murdochs and their obedient goons ?
@matt_barrie That is an absolute lie. All ballot papers were hand written and first counted by hand before a check count by data. It is disgraceful that you repeat such egregious lies without checking. You should be ashamed.
I’m still amazed that the sub judice aspect has been ignored in the rolling media campaign for a Bondi royal commission.
In case you’ve not read about it (and why would you) I’ve written about it here:

I’ve been following the debates about the pros and cons of a Royal Commission into the Bondi massacre. The victims of Bondi deserve justice & we need a calm & measured response not media hysteria. On balance, I don’t support a Royal Commission. This is why 👇
