I would rather chew my own foot off than ever watch these made into film. How do you do justice to the fantastic? To the miraculous? To things that are literally supposed to be divine?
Think of Fingolfin calling out Morgoth, and their duel? It can’t be done without stupid amounts of CGI. That’s not even one of the truly incredible moments in the Silmarillion, what of Earendil’s duel with Ancalagon the Black in the skies above Angband? The Fall of Gindolin? The War of Wrath as a whole ? No, it’s too much to be done right with CGI as it is.
Cristopher Tolkien understood this, the current heirs just want a payday. It would be 95% cgi, it would be Hobbit 2.0, let it remain in our imaginations.
This is such BS, I thought it was a state court when it initially came through my feed. So this is a federal judge ignoring multiple Supreme Court precedents, and Kavanaugh tossing it to the full court to decide if they hear it. Spoiler, they absolutely will hear this in the emergency docket, and I think it’s worst case 5-4 to overturn this ruling.
@neontaster Look, if you trust OpenAI in 2026 you’re smoking something powerful. Rule one in AI: Don’t trust OpenAI press releases. Rule 2 in AI: don’t post your shit in AI if you don’t want it stolen. Combine the two and you get this situation…
The Missouri Court did the state dirty, and I expect two things here: for the full court to agree for an emergency appeal (Roberts, Thomas, Alito, and Barret are enough for that), and for the state court ruling to go down 5-4 on the grounds of changing the districts after the primary is disenfranchising the voters who voted in primaries. Might even be 6-3 if Kavanaugh overcomes his paralysis.
