Delighted to graduate from the University of Limerick last week with a PhD on The Synthesis of Silicon and Germanium Nanowires for Energy Storage and Single Nanowire Devices. Thanks to everyone at @ChemicalSciUL, @BernalNews,and @uncchemistry! #PhDone
@UNCResearch @UNC_WINS@CahoonLabUNC@uncchemistry@UNC_GradSchool This is Kelly's second year on the organizational team and second year on the research mentor team!
In her free time, she loves disc golfing with her dog, playing squash, cooking, and metalsmithing.
Meet our incredible Research Mentor Team Lead, Kelly White!
Kelly is a 4th-year grad student in the chemistry department. In Prof. Jim Cahoon’s Lab, she studies silicon nanowire geometric diodes for high frequency applications.
Interested in learning about the graduate chemistry program at UNC Chapel Hill? Join us on October 26th at 7pm for a virtual information session with current students and faculty!
Congrats to @CahoonLabUNC, Dr. Kanai, Dr. Moran, @jillianldempsey, and Dr. Miller for their promotions to Full Professor! Promotion to Professor is awarded to faculty who have demonstrated excellence in teaching, research, and service to the University. https://t.co/w3FlmEpV6u
5th year student Sarah Sutton from the @CahoonLabUNC taught us the fundamentals of optics, semi-conductors, and pump-probe microscopy! We’re happy we finally were able to put into context the random laser facts she tells at parties @Sarah_CSutton
The 10th annual Triangle Student Research Competition is coming up in October in RTP! Come to network with industry and/or share your materials-focused research! Register and submit abstracts by September 19th at https://t.co/4YCb9VxKKe
Delighted to get my first first-author paper published in @MaterialsToday Energy! We synthesized silicon nanowires on carbon cloth for flexible Li-ion battery anodes. Check it out below! @elonmusk @BernalNews @ChemicalSciUL#battchat#batterytwitter

We are excited to welcome new graduate student Hyunjung Lee to the Cahoon Lab! She will be working in our photonics project group ☀️ @ Chapel Hill, North Carolina https://t.co/SpXk0QiKQl
For the past few months, we’ve been in the presence of a scholar! Dylan Storan joined our group as a @Fulbright_Eire scholar, working in our nanowire diode project area. He has been a great asset to our research group and we will miss him so much when he returns to Ireland.
A long overdue congrats to second year Sam Litvin…the Cahoon Lab’s newest NSF GRFP recipient is also officially a PhD candidate after passing her oral exam! 🎉 @uncchemistry
He’s officially Dr. Meyers! On Friday, Jon gave an awesome dissertation Defense AND had a @ChemMater first-author paper officially published! Huge congrats Jon! @uncchemistry
