I think all those fantasy movies where the giants don't notice the protagonists were lying because I definitely locked eyes with the spider in my shower as he was braving the sudden shower-storm onslaught
Halyna Hutchins, ARCHENEMY’s DP, has a brilliant mind for light and texture. Her tastes and sensibility of what is cinematic were a huge asset for executing our style — the grimy but beautiful feeling I referred to as ROMANTIC BRUTALSM.
I just wanted to share some stills of Halyna Hutchins’ work and take a moment to appreciate how ridiculously difficult it is to become a DOP in the film industry, especially as woman. we’ve lost an incredible artist today
@ArielRelaford Ironic "favorite": navigating being allergic to all things pumpkin spice
Actual favorite: those rare days you can finally start wearing sweaters in LA!!
@penisfractal Ha! That's brilliant. Yeah depending on how it's used in the show, the logo might be described in the script or created in production design. But a lot are vfx shots.
Is it a good show? I was thinking about watching it
@penisfractal Most fictional logos you see nowadays are in vfx shots, so it's most likely a vfx artist designed it.
This is just based on my broad understanding. If anyone has a more nuanced answer based on experience, I would defer to them 2/2
@penisfractal There is textual evidence that Jesus had many friends and people clamoring to see them. I don't believe Jesus would have that amount of social pull/capital without being at least a little hot
@VJBoyd Thank you for answering our questions during the AFF roundtable on a Saturday! I really appreciate your advice.
My question that I wasn’t able to finish asking is in the next tweet.
You mentioned trying to find people who fit the gaps needed in the writer’s room (someone who can do clues, etc.). As someone who hasn’t been in a room before, how important is it for me to articulate exactly what I can help with vs having those examples in my script?
@christinastrain@HIGHzurrer Thank you for Shadow and Bone. As a biracial Asian American, seeing how characters react to Alina is oddly validating, especially when the queen makes a comment about Alina not being "Shu enough." This is the best representation I've had in 26 years.
Asian American Representation in Media 101.
Hollywood and the entertainment at large have been complicit in perpetuating narratives that hypersexualize and fetishize Asian women. Two of the most common stereotypes you see for Asian women are “Dragon Lady” and “The Butterfly.”
