if your characters are "yearning" you have to make them suffer. you have to make them shiver and get stomach cramps every time their love interests name is mentioned. "yearning" lost all its meaning thanks to commercialization of reading it's dog water now in most romance stories
vampires are sexual and queer, the embodiment of repressed desire. If you don't like that, you don't really like gothic literature. The point of gothic was invoking in the reader strong emotions, of even dread and repulsion, that always come with a weird sense of attraction.
