De Niro: I hate to say it, but loving our country is starting to sound like an abused spouse saying they love their abuser.
I can’t love a country that starts stupid and inhumane wars, killing thousands of innocents and indirectly causing the deaths and suffering of millions more.
I can’t love a country that takes healthcare away from millions of people and uses that money to enrich their pals in the Trump-Epstein class.
I can’t love a country that sends out masked militias to shoot citizens in the streets, torture our neighbors, and separate families.
I can’t love a country that’s led by a racist, misogynist, xenophobic tyrant.
And let me just say it: I can’t love a country that’s led by Donald Trump and his sycophant Congress.
Good to see the wider media finally waking up to the danger the Government will cull Dartmoore ponies which are already in huge decline. See my recent interview with Peter Cardwell on Talk TV @petercardwell@TalkTV
What is happening in the UK is entirely the result of allowing the Daily Mail, GB News, Nigel Farage, Tommy Robinson, Andrew Tate, and all the others to spew their bile to hundeds of thousands every single day.
Journalist Janine di Giovanni:
"If a missile hits a hospital in Ukraine,
Europe calls it a war crime."
"But if missiles hit a hospital in Gaza and 100 people die, it’s Israel's right to defend itself."
809 Athletes murdered by the Apartheid regime since October 7th.
288 sports facilities partially or totally destroyed.
Either the match goes or the leadership of the FAI goes. Preferably both.
Today, on his birthday, we celebrate our late Ambassador Paul O’Grady.
Paul was a passionate animal lover, an LGBT icon, and a dear friend of Battersea. He will always be remembered as a hero to us and the animals whose lives he changed. 💙
A critically endangered Diademed sifaka hanging on for dear life—but losing grip on existence in this world.
Madagascar is stricken with extreme poverty, so hunting these large sifakas for bushmeat has soared, even in protected areas. Slash-and-burn for timber and sugar cane plantations for illegal rum is destroying their food trees.
Touchingly, they diligently patrol their territory every morning, carefully scent marking their trees to protect it—but they are defenseless against the ravages we inflict on them.
Long-lived and slow-to-reproduce, now also with high infant mortality (50%), wasting in adults and stunting in immatures as we systematically remove their means to exist.
The tiny, isolated groups in the fragmented reserves may already be genetically non-viable long-term.
It will take a miracle—or someone with enormous wealth— to save this spectacular species from extinction within my lifetime.
From Europe to the Americas to Asia, incidents involving captive wild animals in circuses, zoos or private keeping are happening across the world. 💔
Keeping wild animals in circuses is cruel, outdated, and dangerous.
It’s time for a ban. 📢
Ricky Gervais being criticised by Janet Street Porter & Nick Ferrari on ITV This Morning for celebrating the beautiful foxes in his London. They would both rather demonise & spread fear over these wonderful wild animals @rickygervais@thismorning
Hollywood doesn't know how to dress plus-size bodies. And yes, we're talking about Dana Sue from #SweetMagnolias. We discuss more HERE: https://t.co/piOeKOqW89
Animals die in blaze at soft play centre @BBCNews
The soft play centre recently opened an exotic pets area that was home to meerkats, snakes, tortoises, iguanas, owls and genets, according to posts on social media. None survived.
This is #madness, what are wild animals doing living in a soft play centre? Making money no doubt!!
It’s #cruel beyond belief
I despair of the human race
