Just thinking about those children who have been barred from attending a summer sports event because they played GAA. They will obviously ask why they can't go anymore. What will they be told? Whatever form of words is used, the import will be the same- that you are less than, you are to be kept away. The shame is not theirs. The exclusion is not theirs. We must wrap around them and hold them tight. That a precious child is deprived of a simple, lovely activity due to a group of adult men deeming them to be "encroaching" is not just pathetic, it is disturbing. Let us wrap around and support these wonderful young people and the adults who speak for us all in wanting to create a shared sporting experience for them: we will move forward as a united community, Le Cheile, together, thegither.
