@viperwave There is something beautiful about how you guys are extremely cynical about so many emotional, sensitive indie games but really been like nearly day 1 YIIK heads
@GwLink11@badgraphix@SeibaaHomu Mario in this context being used because it's the polar opposite of how Nintendo treats that character. But the dialogue in the video is funny necessary it's tired and cliche, not that it's inherently bad because it's quirky.
@GwLink11@badgraphix@SeibaaHomu To me the original video is a collage of modern game design tropes-- linear level design, ponderous movement, the noticable UE5 graphics effects, bandied alongside a pastiche of dialogue where the characters are going through the motions and the writers are checked out.
@badgraphix@SeibaaHomu A lot of people come away from that video with massively different interpretation it seems. To me the thought of it being about tutorialization never occurred to me.
@badgraphix@SeibaaHomu Is that what you got from the modern day Mario video? Would that videos message entirely change for you if peach had a character model? Sorry, I'm not even trying to be argumentative, you're genuinely confusing me with your interpretation of the "focus m" video.
@level96commie@boriskarkov Check out Tom's Crossing. New book from MZD that came out this year. Arguably his best work. Easily better than House of leaves in my opinion.
@PaladinJujopo@Ronlake42069@IndustryKara@sagathena I think he is pretty stupid and the majority of the LARP accusations I am seeing on this issue entirely the opposite way but prioritizing gameplay in your RPG is a legitimate stance. A confusing one, but then again there are people who love 4th edition
@Ronlake42069@IndustryKara@sagathena Why is every one of these conversations an argument about who is a fan and who is a fake fan and not just clearly two fans of the same thing who have slightly different priorities
@RASHADISBAE@viperwave This is an interesting conversation to have but if you want to have it you can't start it off being overly defensive like this. Puts you at a direct disadvantage from the get-go.
@GigaCuck420@viperwave I think different people get different things out of that video. I disagree with them, but it seems a large part of its audience interpreted any kind of tongue-in-cheek dialogue as "focus m" and therefore inherently bad.
