I took this on the first day of Royal Ascot 2019. I used a 10mm fixed fisheye lens. I wanted the Queenβs carriage central to the image and the fisheye lens lent itself to capture the grandstand with a slight curved distortion. Because itβs not a zoom lens I did a reckie at the Ascot May meeting to work out exactly where I needed to stand on the paddock steps for precise composition. I got my spot about 45 mins prior to taking the photo. Luckily the light was good too which also helps focus when not panning. It needs straightening marginally but overall I was pleased with the outcome which absolutely represents the splendour of the royal meeting.
