Remember that travelling when it’s windy is only dangerous when you go to a football match. If you go shopping in town, to the pub, to the cinema, to the gym or to work it’s perfectly safe to do so.
Please Support Our Josh Abbott ❤️🤍
Help support Darwen FC's Josh Abbott and his young family following a devastating ACL injury.
Football is more than just a game. At Darwen FC, we're more than just a football club. We're a family. And right now, one of our own needs our help.
Our player, Josh Abbott, has suffered a serious ACL injury that is likely to keep him out of football for up to 12 months.
For any footballer, an injury of this nature is devastating. The physical pain, the long road to recovery and the mental challenge of being away from the game you love are difficult enough.
But for Josh, the impact goes far beyond football.
Like so many players at non-league level, Josh doesn't earn his living from playing football. He is self-employed, working hard to provide for his family and three young children.
This injury doesn't just mean months on the sidelines. It potentially means months of being unable to work, earn an income and support the people who depend on him most.
And that's where we need your help.
Every time these lads pull on a Darwen FC shirt, they give their all for our club, our supporters and our town. They put their bodies on the line, often after a full week's work, simply because they love the game and are proud to represent Darwen.
Josh has shown tremendous loyalty and dedication to our football club, and now we have an opportunity to show him just how much that means to us.
At Darwen FC, we look after our own.
As a close-knit, family club, we will do everything within our power to support Josh throughout his recovery. But we know that with the help of our brilliant supporters, the wider football community and the people of Darwen, we can make an even bigger difference.
We're asking anyone who can to please consider making a donation, however big or small, to help ease the financial pressure on Josh and his family during what will undoubtedly be an incredibly difficult period.
100% of the money raised through this appeal will go directly towards supporting Josh and his family. Every contribution will help take away some of the financial worry and allow Josh to focus on what matters most — his recovery and being there for his family.
And if you're not in a position to donate, simply sharing this fundraiser would mean the world to us.
Football has an incredible way of bringing people together, especially when one of our own is going through a tough time.
Josh has given his all for the Darwen shirt. Now it's our turn to give something back.
Let's show Josh and his family that they aren't facing this alone.
Once a Salmoner, always a Salmoner. ❤️🤍
From everyone at Darwen FC, thank you for your kindness, generosity and support.

Some of those poor buggers will have watched Van Basten and Gullit in the flesh every week and now they're in a crowd of 400 drifting through a retirement village in the rain to see their team go down 3-0 to Bournemouth.
Expecting rain tonight but will still try & sell a few Fanzines. Unfortunately there's no little shelter when the heavens open around the Fields of Anfield Road. If its dry you will find Martin at F/Pole corner & me outside the Main Stand opposite the Faith Room. If wet???????
