I just realised I never posted the paper I co-authored on here!!
This was initially my 3rd year research project during university and transitioned into a project in my own time.
First author was a PhD student looking to get more writing experience.

@chaandmami I dont know if its a push from the phillipines but I remember a few months ago people were trying to make it the next matcha or dubai choc but I remember someone saying that it would legit require a full transformation of their economy or something
@seveblaenhaugr@Neilhoh@DaveMilbo you think what the europeans did was any less barbaric? Youd think a society so 'advanced' would have better standards, yet they rounded up these people and pushed them off cliffs and to this day many sites remain unmarked because their decendents desecrate the site
@kittykareninas My housemate bangs her spoon against her bowl and chews with her mouth open and I can hear it from my bedroom and it makes me want to throw myself out a window
@rosykaren@PatrickLenton So can you recognise that these roles, behaviours and expressions are imparted on us socially, and therefore are more flexible than traditionally believed? Because it sounds like confining someone based on those standards would be worse than allowing someone to escape them
@planetkiri I'm in vic and I have been denied over the dex before (I assumed 45 days was ok, but they needed the full 50), I think it was raised when the GP called the prescription line but idkπ all a mystery to me, but I am just mindful of not coming in too early on the stims now
@planetkiri also sorry if this is annoying my pharmacy didnt even tell me I was flagged, my GP told me, so now I just have like a 6 month window im looking back on
@planetkiri can u tell me the rules that result in ur profile getting red flaggedπ my doctor said im flagged and idk what I did wrong bwaaaaa (I refill my ADHD scripts at 28 days, 1 time I tried to refill my dex at 45 days instead of 50 (1.5m supply) + 1 time I tried to stockpile my ssri)
@planetkiri the ssri thing was bc I orignally got given 3 boxes at once and then my psych was look oops was meant to be 4 and sent me another and they were like ummmm u already have 3 months worth why are u trying to get more
@bookbeduion I have been reading notes from underground lately and its been taking forever for such a short book, and for some reason I started reading sherlock holmes, and I read like 1/4 of the book in one sitting. I was a lit snob before this but now I might give myself breaks
@seveblaenhaugr@Neilhoh@DaveMilbo it didnt need to be destroyed to sustain life. This is the fundamental flaw in colonial logic, every colonial project arrives with the goal of transforming a new space into a copy of what they know, even if it is not suited for that lifestyle 2/2
@seveblaenhaugr@Neilhoh@DaveMilbo The difference is pretty simple, when europeans came here the only way they could look at the place is as a wasteland that needs to be torn down to be replaced with european crops and animals, whereas the aboriginals understood the value of what was already there and knew that1/2
@kittykareninas I'm finishing my honours thesis and I've had to use Claude so much to help do R coding because I don't have time to learn it and there's suddenly no mention of a stats guy when I say that I don't know how to do these models. It's so shameful needing it, I can't imagine willingly
@kittykareninas This is so unrelated but I've been wanting to dump this somewhere. As someone who's really anti-ai and thinks it's detrimental to society, I have been going nuts. A year ago if I needed stats help for my research, the school had a "stats guy" who would do it for me. But now 1/2
@lanzhanbarosan It was originally recommended to me by one of my ecology teachers and imo its a much more casual way of building that understanding of how these things work, rather than throwing u in the deep end it tells the story from pre-darwin perspectives to now
@lanzhanbarosan The song of the Dodo has been pr good so far, I just read it when im too flat for classics, it covers the history of how we understand evolution and island biogeography. I have heard it gets a little technical later on but I am sure its explained well if you lock in for it :3
@slkie@WarMonitorClips From my understanding they dont wish to kill each other in these disputes, they injure a few people and then they come to negotiate (its been a little while since I read about this though)
@BanderaBeau it genuinely feels like our government will do backflips for these countries just so we can get labelled as the west despite being across the globe from them. We get no respect, we will just do whatever tricks needed to get grouped in with the "serious" players
@BanderaBeau we are already treated like nothing more than an outpost in their eyes, and for some reason we just do everything they say even to our own detriment. China likely only even looks at us because we house US soldiers, equipment and listen to their every word while being nearby
