Governor Newsom has signed three bills sponsored and co-sponsored by the California Transit Association to help transit agencies deliver reliable service and advance California's climate goals.
The new laws address three priorities for transit agencies and their riders:
SB 741 (Blakespear) streamlines state transit funding requirements and allows agencies to use funds to maintain existing service.
AB 1837 (Mark González) extends transit agencies' authority to use state-of-the-art technologies to enforce parking violations in bus lanes and at transit stops.
AB 1944 (Lee) provides temporary axle weight flexibility to support transit agencies' purchase of zero-emission buses.

Local voices. Local choices. A stronger future for transit.
The California Transit Association joins transportation leaders statewide in opposing Prop 43, which would raise the threshold for voter-led transit funding measures to a two-thirds supermajority—allowing a small minority to block investments supported by most voters.
Protect communities' ability to fund the buses and trains that connect people to jobs, education, and essential services. Vote NO on Prop 43.
