@jahimes The most important thing you can do for smart guns is to call on your stubborn colleagues in the NJ legislature to repeal their poison pill law. This has cost the industry a critical decade of development and countless lives.
@ProsecutorsAGV Kudos to prosecutors getting out on the front lines (in bold, no less) with the cops! Previously, they stayed safely in their offices.
One would expect plea bargaining for repeat offenders drop, now that they're on the street, right?
@michaelmkent @teamtrace If it were up to us: We'd give you suppressors sold like handguns. That's just common sense harm reduction. We'd give you reciprocity with a minimum training floor. We'd leave you 30 round mags & hollow pts.
Take: Completed MBC. 10 day first gun wait. SA Shotgun mag limit.
@CaliforniaRifle Mr. California Rifleman, while very cynical, is 100% correct about the California gun control strategy. Once the next governor is in office, there will be no limits on the legislature. And we all know that the 9th Circuit is fully on board with turning off the 2nd Amendment.
Well this certainly isn't going to encourage people to register their firearms with the DOJ....

@GiffordsCourage gubernatorial endorsement ads started appearing today in our local tv market. Not sure that it resonates with the average voter.
Also, not clear why they're spending capital on a100% slam dunk primary winner...seems like a huge waste of donated money.
SB1100 by @Portantino advances out of CA Senate. This bill raises the purchase age for all firearms to 21 and limits 1 firearm per 30 days.
Good steps.
Stand by for voting age and enlistment and majority age increases from the CA legislature? Perhaps not. Politics.
@jbattwit@newtr0n @BrennaDemands @GiffordsCourage While it's true that we're focused solely on gun control, it's really worth noting that those cheeseburgers are statistically way more likely to kill us than a gangster with a firearm. And the gangsters are more likely to kill us than a mass shooter.
Just live your life well.
@BrennaDemands @GiffordsCourage It's also a great idea to check the crime statistics while you're researching how to keep your family safe since laws don't always make a perfect world.
AB2382 requires a face-to-face background check for firearm parts, includes a tax/fee, and establishes yet another large bureaucracy to administer it. This kills internet sales and makes in-store parts sales much more cumbersome. Certainly not gun-owner friendly legislation.
AB2382 by @AsmMikeGipson was amended to magically only require a majority and not a supermajority. Cleverly calling it a "fee" and not a "tax" on gun parts and specifying a $6M "loan" to the program avoids the supermajority and appropriations checks, moving it closer to approval.
@LorenaAD80 Obviously, the suspense file process is broken and has just become an exercise of power. What kind of careful consideration can be applied in under one minute per bill? We should limit legislators to 5 bills to gain real quality and prioritization.
@CRPAnews@FrankBigelowCA Given their destructive potential in the CA delta levees, it would make sense for invasive Nutria to be addressed in CDFW regulations as well. But we haven't found this yet.
@CRPAnews In a rare moment of legislative clarity, AB2805 is rescued from the suspense file. This bill, by @FrankBigelowCA , updates wild pig management by the CDFW. We'll see if it survives the "icky hunting" factor in the legislature. Key feature: increases the available take per "tag".
@fish1552@USATODAY It's how we do.
But you shouldn't really be surprised....it says "gun control" right there in our handle.
(Maybe we should improve our branding by adding Mothers or Courage or Safety to our title.)
@standupchuck Also interesting is the court's argument that the 2nd is not burdened by this rifle legislation because you can always buy a handgun. Probably not the answer the plaintiffs were hoping for.
Fed court slapped down an injunction for CA's AW registration with a stack of somewhat twisted logic.
"These legislative findings support that the legislature had
a legitimate government objective.....".
The legislature said so, therefore it was valid legislation? Weak sauce. https://t.co/ddxhe35Idr
