A pet cat has been killed by a snare near Haworth in April and reported to the police. This is yet another example of snares catching domestic animals.
Snares are indiscriminate, unnecessary and cruel and must be banned! Full report from NASC:

MPs will debate intensive grouse shooting today after the petition hit the 100, 000 threshold. Wildlife activists hope the debate will pave the way for grouse shooting to be outlawed.

▪️Wing clipping of call birds is illegal in the UK. ▪️Gamekeepers mutilate live bait birds to stop them flying away.
▪️Please check for wildlife crime and suffering in this unregulated practice.

@Gary60288931 A lot of the corvid trapping in the Calderdale area happens for the grouse shooting estate, as they see corvids as a threat to the grouse.
Walkers have taken this footage of a ladder trap close to Hardcastle Craggs. This is the sad reality of corvid trapping! Denied of freedom, the call bird will attract other corvids, to their death.

Some legal requirements to look out for with corvid traps:
🐾 Food, water, shelter and a perch must be provided
🐾 The call bird must not have their wings clipped
🐾The trap must be checked every 25 hours
Please monitor your local trap and document what you see!
Yet again, monitors have gathered evidence of animals who had perished in grouse butts in #calderdale. Please check grouse butts while you are out!
🐸Help wildlife find their way out of grouse butts!
📷 Photograph what you see!

Great to see this national campaign by @AnimalAid featuring our footage of the lamb released from the snare last year.
Check out the video and contact your MP at the link below!
Snares are cruel and unnecessary and must be banned!
#BanSnares
Support our campaign calling for a ban on snares. They cause untold distress, injury and death to countless animals across the UK, and should be consigned to history. https://t.co/m7jpHd2F2j
The Government's moorland burning ban says it only applies on peat deeper than 40cm.
I FOI'd DEFRA for a map of peat deeper than 40cm.
They replied to say that they didn't have one.🤦♂️
How is this ban enforceable, @ZacGoldsmith?
