Good to be in the “New Fourth” today in Lee’s Summit meeting with new Mayor, Beto Lopez and city councilman, Donnie Funk. Love the food and service at Neighborhood cafe!
Worst political wedding sleight since I had to call the singer at my wedding and let him know I was working against him for Majority Leader. Long story. True story. Still sorry, @calebrowden.
Today, on the National Day of Prayer, please join me in praying for God's guidance and protection over our state, nation, and all those who protect us.
Only one chance in this lifetime…
Like watching sunset at the beach from the most foreign seat in the cosmos, I couldn’t resist a cell phone video of Earthset. You can hear the shutter on the Nikon as @Astro_Christina is hammering away on 3-shot brackets and capturing those exceptional Earthset photos through the 400mm lens. @AstroVicGlover was in window 3 watching with @Astro_Jeremy next to him.
I could barely see the Moon through the docking hatch window but the iPhone was the perfect size to catch the view…this is uncropped, uncut with 8x zoom which is quite comparable to the view of the human eye. Enjoy.
This weekend, President Trump posted this image to his social media. It's not the first time he's used imagery like this.
Scripture has a lot to say about people who wanted a king or a savior they could see. It rarely ends the way they hoped.
Below is a blurb from my book @ideotheobook , from a chapter called "Donald Trump, Savior or Symptom." My hope is that we can be honest about the impulse to think this way, no matter which "side" is doing the encouraging.

We keep repeating that same story. The craving for a savior we can see—someone strong enough to fix what’s broken and present enough to quiet our fears—is one of the oldest impulses in human history. It didn’t start with Trump. It won’t end with him either. Scripture doesn’t point us to human rulers for salvation. It points us somewhere else entirely, toward the only King who has never abused His power, never disappointed, and never faded into irrelevance.
So where does that leave us with Donald Trump? He is not a villain. He is not a savior. He is a mirror. He reflects our nation’s restlessness, our exhaustion, and our deep longing for someone to step forward and make sense of the chaos. His rise tells us as much about us as it does about him. We’ve become a people desperate for control in a world that refuses to be controlled. We pour our hopes into elections, our faith into politicians, our identity into movements. We want a king we can see because trusting the King we can’t see takes real surrender.
“But they all cried out together, ‘Away with this man, and release to us Barabbas’ — a man who had been thrown into prison for an insurrection started in the city and for murder.”
— Luke 23:18-19
The story of Barabbas is the story of all of us. Guilty. Condemned. Freed because someone innocent took our place.
He is risen! Happy Easter!

Today I'm launching Forthwell, my personal brand — and the name says everything about what I'm trying to do with my life.
Forth. To move forward. To go out into the world with intention and purpose. Well. With excellence. With care. With conviction.
That's the goal. Not just to be busy or to build things, but to move through the world in a way that actually matters — and to pour that same standard into every endeavor I'm a part of.
I'm genuinely humbled by the work I get to be involved in. Consulting, civic leadership, technology, faith, community, writing — each one a different expression of the same deep desire: that the work I do would be a blessing to the people and communities around me in some real, tangible way.
Forthwell is the home for all of it. Come take a look — https://t.co/qK0PBYN5Db — and I'd love to hear what you're working on too.

Dennis Gates' squad is hot at the right time.
Today, in honor of Christian County Sheriff's Office Deputies Gabriel Ramirez and Michael Hislope, flags are be flown at half-staff at government buildings in Christian and Greene counties, all police stations, sheriffs’ offices, and Missouri State Highway Patrol general and troop headquarters across Missouri.
Bravery, dedication to duty, and service to others defined these fine men, who each defended our nation as soldiers before selflessly serving Christian County as deputy sheriffs.
Sadly, these courageous heroes lost their lives because of an evil, violent, career criminal who should not have been free to commit these heinous crimes. Claudia and I are keeping both families, the Christian County Sheriff's Office, and the entire law enforcement community in our prayers during this difficult time. Ramirez’s and Hislope’s legacies will not be forgotten.
